.....I am officially done as an Orioles fan. That's hard for me to say after 30 years, but until Peter Angelos is no longer the owner I will no longer spend any of my hard earned money going to games, buying Orioles merchandise and supporting an organization that obviously doesn't really care about winning or their fans. I will no longer frequent Orioles websites, read Orioles articles or even wear Orioles gear to show any type of support.

I have prided myself in being a true fan, through thick and thin, no matter what, but I have reached the point where the Orioles don't bring me joy anymore. Instead, they bring me stress, dissapointment, drudgery and even depression. I no longer need that in my life.

I'm not saying that the Orioles have to win for me to care again, just that the ownership realize that the faithful fans of the organization matter and don't need to deal with being a laughingstock.

I don't want to just jump on a winning organization's bandwagon. So, I won't become a Phillies or Rangers fan. Instead, I will throw my support to the Nationals. That makes sense for me because I live close to DC. They are a team that hasn't ever won anything, but I can tell the ownership is passionate. They draft well (regardless of cost), and I believe they will spend money on the right free agents. Even if they never win anything, if the organization is run with pride, I will be able to hold my head up as a fan.

Expect a few people to tell you to watch out for the door on the way out.

Unfortunately, for me, I am unable to walk away from Orioles baseball. It's an incurable, untreatable mental illness.

Recognizing you have a problem is the first step to dealing with it.... :)

For me it's not a conscious decision. I will never be able to "stop caring" like i am turning off a light switch. But I have definitely been watching less games, going to less games, or spending time really caring about this team. I tell you what, this website and message board is my last link to this team. I still follow what happens around the team and all that, but only because I care about what people here have to say about it. If not for this website I would either be a Nats fan or baseball wouldn't even be a part of my life anymore.

There's about 12 of these threads a year. Good for you for having the power to do it. I on the other hand and proud to root for a franchise that has a legacy greater then that of Ryan Zimmerman and Livan Hernandez. Proud that my team needs to compete to the highest level to be successful. Proud that PA can't possibly own this team longer then I'll be alive (I hope). Excited that we will one day be great again. It's been commendable sticking with us this long. I hope you get what you're looking for in DC.

This is pretty much where I'm at. I've lived in NY for five and a half years now and I still can't quit. Granted, I only go to maybe 1 game a year and watch maybe 3-4 on TV, but I am still here every day talking about free agents and trades and prospects and coaches like any of it matters.

The worst part is that this has basically ruined baseball for me overall. I think I watched two and a half postseason games this year (WS game 7, one of the StL/MIL games, and the end of the last MIL/ARI game). I missed one of the greatest WS games of all time because I basically have zero passion for or connection to the sport anymore.

I just said in another thread that I'm just about done with this organization, and I am. That doesn't mean I won't be an Orioles fan, but I'm not about to invest anymore time, energy or money into this organization until major changes are made (i.e. ownership). I've basically gone flat emotionally when it comes to this team. The only reason I'm still here is because I like the community.

Trust me, I'm not sure I'll be able to not "care"....it's in me. But for my health's sake (I'm serious), I need to distance myself from this organization until Angelos is done. I'll be back (winning or losing teams) when he is gone. For now I will have to settle for an NL team....don't think I could route for another AL team.

You should feel lucky that you aren't exposed to more games than you are.

Seriously.
