Agree with this. The only thing that would concern me is that he'll be 38 at the start of next season and might drop off quickly.

Carrol is one of the most underrated players in MLB. He's one of the few players who can manage a high OBP despite having less power than my mother, and he handles both positions up the middle nicely. Yes, he's 38, but he posted the lowest K-rate of his career in 2011. He's been a league average regular over the last 4 years.

Certainly not a sexy sign and the age brings some risk to the contract, but I have an affection for players who manage Carroll's skillset in the big leagues. There aren't many who can pull it off.

Yeah, the age is concerning. I didn't realize he was that good offensively.
