Well UNC just finished up getting destroyed by Florida State 90-57 in the team's worst loss in years.

Hard to believe how amazingly FSU shot the ball and how poorly UNC played all around.

The weaknesses FSU took advantage of are weaknesses everyone knows about but I would not have believed that the Tar Heels could lose by that margin against any team this year, even on the road.

Hopefully this loss can spark the team to raise their game to the next level, similar to the way the GT loss did last year.

Xavier got a nice win over St. Bonaventure this afternoon. 15 NBA scouts were in attendance to see Andrew Nicholson (and probably Tu Holloway and Mark Lyons as well). Nicholson ended up scoring 20, but it wasn't enough for the Bonnies. Lyons lead the Muskies with 21 points, followed by Jeff Robinson with 13, Holloway with 12, and 3 points specialist Brad Redford with 10. Kenny Frease only played 13 minutes as he suffered a knee injury during a blocking foul. Though, he should be fine for next game. The Musketeers look to going back to their pre-Shootout form. The bench has been a big help, as Robinson has played solid the past two games and Redford (who tore his ACL and missed the entire 2010-2011 season) has started to hit his threes.

Next up for Xavier is St. Joseph's at the Cintas Center on Wednesday on CBS Sports at 7.

I watched part of that game, Xavier looked to be getting back on track.

They should be ashamed of themselves. There is plenty of time for the Heels to get their act together, but it's ridiculous for them to lose by 33 to a so-so team.

This is a little late (not that anyone cares) but Xavier beat St. Joe's 68-55 to make it 4 in a row.

Mark Lyons led the scoring with 17 points. Others in double digits were Frease (13), Wells (12), and Robinson (12). JRob has hit double digits in the past 3 games. While he isn't scoring much, Holloway finished with 12 assists. Phil Martelli, head coach of the Hawks, said that the A10 championship will have to go through the Musketeers.

X faces a pivotal matchup with rival Dayton tomorrow afternoon with the Dayton Flyers at 1 PM on ESPN2.

My team (Penn) faces St. Joe's tonight to finish out the Quakers' Big 5 schedule. Regardless of the Martelli controversy over that transfer student earlier in the year, he seems to have put together a pretty nice squad this season. I don't expect Penn to do very well, but then again, we took Temple to overtime, and the Owls beat Duke and now Maryland.

St. Joe's has a good, young team. I don't think they have 'it" to compete for the A10 title this year, but next year, they definitely will.

Yeah last year they were pretty bad, but I think it's now clear that it was a transition/rebuilding year.

Duke with a very uninspiring win over St. John's yesterday. Rivers forces everything and tries to do too much himself. None of the other guards are a threat to score inside the arc. None of them are great defenders. This is the weakest Duke team in a long time.

Well, it's been a few weeks since I've updated, mostly due to the fact that Xavier has been playing bad. Muskies lost at Dayton last Saturday and at home to SLU this past Wednesday. The Billikens broke Xavier's 46 game win streak versus conference opponents at the Cintas Center.

Last night, they got a much-needed win at Charlotte. Although it was only a 4 point game, it was mostly due to 49er Javarris Barnett, who finished with 27 points and was 7-8 from behind the arc. On Wednesday, Xavier flies to the nation's capital to take on George Washington.

The Atlantic 10 might be the most balanced conference in the country right now. There are not many very strong or very weak teams. I would have said Rhode Island is the clear cellar dweller, but they had a shocking road win at Dayton last night. The Flyers were one of the A10 favorites prior to their loss (which sent their RPI down 30+ spots).

Just check out these standings:

Massachusetts 5-2 16-5

La Salle 5-2 16-6

St. Bonaventure 5-2 12-7

Temple 4-2 15-5

Xavier 5-3 14-7

Saint Louis 4-3 16-5

Dayton 4-3 14-7

Saint Joseph's 3-4 13-9

Duquesne 3-4 12-9

Richmond 3-4 12-10

George Washington 3-4 8-13

Charlotte 2-5 10-10

Fordham 2-5 9-11

Rhode Island 1-6 4-18

Who would've thought UMass, La Salle, and St. Bonaventure would be leading the conference. La Salle has a really good shot at staying up there, as they have a pretty easy schedule from here on out.

    • Still with a chance to do this for the first time since 1982-83. Would be one more nice accomplishment for this organization.
    • The weird thing about our bullpen is that they rarely blow leads.   They have a 69% save rate, 4th highest in baseball.  They make it scary, but generally, when they have the lead, they get the job done.   Where they are really bad is keeping games close when we’re down a run or two, last night being a classic example of that.   This year’s team has 32 comeback wins, compared to 48 last year.   Why is that?   Part of it is obviously on the offense, but part of it is that the bullpen doesn’t keep us in striking distance when we’re behind.   One way you can tell this is by the W/L records of the starters and the bullpen.  Last year, the starters were 57-40, this year they’re 60-49.   The starter got the decision 12 more times this year than last year, including 9 more losses (with 3 games to play).   That tells you that when the team is losing when the starter is pulled, they keep losing.  Meanwhile, the relievers were 44-21 last year, 28-22 now. They’re not picking up wins because they don’t give the offense a chance to catch up and get the win for the bullpen guy.
    • I do not disagree with above posts.  Also I am pretty sure that this time last season, the Texas Rangers Hangout was saying the exact same things as the Rangers Pen.  Point being, you never know until you know.  The pen is shaky, but is capable of putting together a solid run from time to time.
    • Roster Resource thinks it has tonight's lineup and Kjerstad on bench again. He is 7 AB shy of 130 MLB regular season AB with 3 games left, and if he ends up short some prospect list makers may still label him one.    If still with the Orioles, he will be 26 years old by Sarasota. I think the OP has its answer as it has been Cole and Lopez these two nights and the team is preparing for that intensity.
    • I care I bet the over on 88 wins, looked like a lock now not so much, come on O’s, daddy needs some new shoes
    • I’d have brought up Young immediately after DFAing Kimbrel. Baker has no place on this club this year. Would have been nice to see Young up here.
    • Yeah, but they could've brought him up a month ago and seen what they might have...And Im not "pining" for Brandon Young, just wondering if he's any better than some we have in the pen..
