Matusz to work out with Brady

Yeah, probably why Buck has had him at every managerial position and actively recruited him. It's Mark Connor. If you're going to rip the guy at least spell his name right.
Instead of worrying about my spelling, why not look into his history with Texas, Einstein.

If that was true though, as soon as Connor left, Brian would have gone back to his old mechanics and the season would have improved. Because it went on all year, there's something else to the story.

He's young, he needs to improve on what to say to the media

I think that's a good takeaway for him.

Whatever, it's all minor in the grand scheme, but I know he's a fighter, he LOVES the game and he's going to do whatever it takes to fix it.

I agree.

Every pitcher we had regressed from Kranitz to Adair, but because he's "Buck's guy" he gets to stay. Adair = Buck's Stockstill. Sorry...little rant
.

I was dissappointed we let go of Kranitz as well. If you remember though a lot of people contributed the pitching success to Buck taking over in 2010. Nonsense of course. I've yet to see anybody provide me anything concrete what Connor/Adair have done to "F" up our pitching staff. We improved the latter part of last year imo. I like what Adair did with Tommy Hunter and I just see no reason why we need to break up the continuity of the pitching coach again.

I dont know. Maybe I can be convinced. I just need something. It was the same stuff with Crowley. I'm just tired of blaming the coaching staff. If we want to blame Connor fine. I'm just not sure where Adair has gotten a fair shake here or what's so horrible about him.

Why don't you tell me. Sorry I couldn't find the Connor F's up all the young pitchers article. While you're at it, tell my why Buck has had this guy for all four of his managerial stops and actively recruited him for this one. Apparently Buck's an idiot I guess.

Sounds to me that Connor had some of the same issues Mazzone did. Minor League Pitchers weren't prepared to pitch in the majors and they weren't used to dealing with that in their other organizations. Maybe Mazzone got a rawer deal as he had guys who were rushed up quicker than what Connor had. We know our minor league pitchers have a pretty poor track record. Maybe we should consider this and the genius AAA pitching coach isn't all he's cracked up to be. Maybe guys like Connor and Mazzone knew what they were talking about and the issue is more about development than the ML pitching coach.

Connor tries to alter Matusz's mechanics which lead to his njury. They brought Matusz back before he had fully recoverd from his injury. They blamed it on Matusz, to CTA's. Adair is a Connor clone and Buck sycophant.

His injury occured when he was twisting away from a line drive that hit him. He tore an intercostal. And was probably rushed back. I did not think he pitched well in spring traing before the injury.

I went back and re-read the entire thread and the only thing I found "off-putting" was yours and to a lesser extent Frobby's post. Be specific and call out who you think needs it and be more precise. Otherwise you're basically spouting nonsense.

I don't feel the need to "call out" other posters unless they are way, way out of line. Way too much time is spent on this board in petty disputes that escalate into personal attacks, and I have never cared to participate in that.

In general, I am a lot slower than others to start impugning a player's work ethic, character, etc. I just don't think that judging people by a few select snippets in the media is fair.

As to Matusz specifically, he seems to be working hard this offseason and determined to overcome his struggles of 2011. That's all I care about.

That's fine. Maybe "call out" wasn't the best terminology, it was more about adressing specific point with specific posters that you disagree with on this particular issue (or any issue for that matter). You did that to some extent, but I'm not sure how throwing up terms like "character assassination" or other generalizations about the board have to do with this specific issue or how it advances any particular argument. I could throw up a similar argument that you are "blind to the facts" etc. If anything this is the type of stuff that leads to the disputes/personal attacks you dislike.

There are facts here. I understand we all have different interpretations of them.

Like you, I hope Matusz rebounds and learns from his experience.

I was talking about a general trend. If I see an individual post that I think goes too far, I'll say something, I guess. Not sure why you care. I didn't have any problem with anything in particular that you said until you thrust yourself into the middle of it.

I pretty rarely "spout nonsense." You pretty quickly get your dander up. To each their own.

You presented a pretty clear logical fallacy (nonsense). Years of expensive law school and some self reflection should make that evident. Maybe I thrust my opinion on here because it's a message board. When you voice an opinion, I can actually counter it. I believe the board technology allows you to ignore my posts. Maybe you should take advantage of it.

And that's where I'm going to leave it.

    • I guess we were watching a different outing.
    • You try to sign long term Gunnar and GR.  Wait and see on the others. As for Adley?   I would not sign him to a long term contract.  I hate to say it because I love the guy but he just does not seem worth what he is going to ask for imo.
    • I am not worried about Means AS LONG AS HE IS HEALTHY.   Big if.  But he knows what he is doing getting ready for what him is his spring training.  If he does this his first 2 starts or so?    Then I worry.
    • I had never seen him in a live at bat until I saw him at his first spring training at bat this year.  And I mean his very first at bat.   He struck out swinging on like 4 pitches and being honest looked completely over matched.  I remember thinking....."hmmmm that seems odd for a guy so highly touted".   He just seemed like he had no idea what he was doing.   But then I never really saw another live at bat from him again all spring training and he ended up doing pretty well.  However every at bat I have seen of him since he got called up?  Looked like that first spring training at bat.  He looks like my wife trying to hit a major league fastball.  He has no idea what he is doing. I have never seen someone so good against minor league players and yet so bad against major league players.  Just a huge discrepancy.   Has to be psychological.   He looks completely intimidated.
    • And who is this somebody other than Means or Flarerty that would help us in the playoffs. Also remember Bradish and Grod did not help us in the Playoffs. So I guess It was unwise to wait on those 2. Plus Bradish is hurt and uncertain going foward( a la Means) Yeah you piled on.
    • I will say I am surprised at how utterly useless/helpless JH looks after he got called up.   Not just surprised. Stunned is a better word. This is not an 7th round pick who struggled for years in the minors.   This is the #1 pick from 2 years ago who has dominated his entire life in the game of baseball. Yet he looks like a player in 8th grade playing against seniors in HS.  He can barely make any contact and even his fielding and throwing is very iffy. It is like he took up the game of baseball within the last year.   A complete novice.   This has to be mental because even the worst of the worst can make more contact than he is.  He is FLAILING.   No way that is all physical.    At this point you send him down.   No questions asked.   I was more than willing to let him get through this if he SHOWED ANY SIGNS of life.  But he just doesn't.   He looks pathetic.    Manny Machado he is not.   Send him down for at least 3 months.   Bring up Mayo.  Or anyone really.  It is better than what he is offering.
