Philly still interested in getting Mora...

The cancer thing is a lot of vague mumble-mumble coming from God-knows-who...You can choose to believe it or not, that's up to you.

Fixed that for you...

I believe that they're both grumpy now. How could they not be? If I was them, I'd prolly be saying worse things than they ever did. So, we agree that it's prolly best for all concerned if AM can get some good talent for them. Even so, there's no point in dissing them. For a considerable period during a crappy era, they did more than anybody to help a bad team win. Personally, I respect both of them. It's the situation that's bad, not the character of these guys. I expect many people here found themselves in a situation at one time or another where they just got fed up with the BS, same thing here...

Read the article in the Sun with Mora quotes where he talks about losing playing time to Moore. Talks about MacPhail and Trembley. In that article it was a total "me me me" attitude. He obviously could care less about the team at this point. AND, he never refuted the article afterwards, which means it was indeed the way he feels. If that's not proof enough, I don't know what is? An aging veteran complaining about losing playing time to a 23 year when we are 25 games out of the playoff race is beyond selfish. Its downright egotistical! I've said before, it IS a shame its come to this, but Mora's attitude has certainly changed in recent years, and he needs a fresh start somewhere else!

I was being sarcastic...

I definitely don't think he is in the wrong and I don't hold anything against him but that doesn't take away from the fact that Mora is being looked at as a clubhouse cancer.

I agree its not nice to bash these guys, but, Mora was all about team and the Orioles when he was trying to get a nice new contract. (In fact, most of us scremed to PAY THE MAN because he was the type of guy that out the team first.) But, onc ehe got paid, his attitude has been changing into that of a "superstar" me-first type player. If you cannot see this change, then you haven't been paying attention. And, his attitude has changed in the past two years since he got paid. He was on the same losing, no direction franchise for 5 years before that, yet he still put the team first. You don't see that?

I doubt that the local newspapers typically report pure speculation as fact. Do you think the reports sit around saying "Man, it's been a slow day...nothing going on...I bet Mora is a clubhouse problem! I'll print it!"?

It may be exaggerated, but I would think it has some truth to it.

My friend, all bloviatng aside, it would behoove to watch the Kurosawa film, RASHOMON. It deals with these illusive ideas like "truth" and "facts". Believe nothing of what you hear and half of what you see.:D

Whether he's a clubhouse cancer or not, the simple truth is that Mora will be 36 years old on opening day. He's to be paid over $17m the next 2 years and he has a NTC. The ballclub more than likely will not be in the playoff contention for 2008 and 2009, so if he's willing to waive his NTC so you can move him, you move him.

If Mora is a cancer, it's because he got it from Miggi; he causes cancer right?:D

Nah what I am referring to is this:

<img src=http://thebigo.mvpmods.com/god-kills-kitten.jpg></img>

Mora has become a lot less patient at the plate since Tejada has been here hence the previous statement... :P

So in short Mora gave Miggi cancer and Miggi taught Mora how to kill poor innocent kittens. Both are now cancerous kitten killers... :D

Innocent until proven guilty? that's an old wives tale, the climate around here frequently resembles a lynch mob waiting for an excuse. Have noose will travel.:D And by the way I've heard some things about you .....but I can't say them right now.:D

Oh I can't wait. :rolleyes:

Did you read anything I said? Really.

You and Shack are the kings of drama!:D

Of course if Mora is a cancer in the clubhouse, I want him gone. But we don't know the whole story. I just want Mora gone because he's not a part of the O's future. I want everyone who is not a part of the Orioles future gone. Millar, Payton... I'd even add Huff and Hernandez but they could still be decent pieces to have at a trade deadline if their value increases. Plus, especially with Hernandez, we have no one to take their place right now.

The Orioles should be playing guys who could be a part of this team for 3-5 years at a time, and finding out if MiL FA's who've been blocked could become pieces of our future.

I beg to differ... Mora has been steady in the # of pitches per plate appearances with or without Tejada here.

2007 = 4.11

2006 = 3.96

2005 = 3.97

2004 = 4.11

2003 = 4.11

2002 = 3.95

Look at his BBs and OBP:

2004: 66, .419

2005: 50, .348

2006: 54, .342

2007: 47, .341

See a trend?

    • As for people who think John will sell,don't think it will happen.What else gives him this power. The suits raised concerns among fans that a sale of the team could mean it would move. Louis Angelos suggested in one filing that John Angelos, who has a home in Nashville, could relocate the team to Tennessee. John Angelos has said repeatedly the team will not leave Baltimore, and sources told The Sun he wants to maintain his family’s majority ownership, even if a portion of its shares are sold.
    • On Jan. 26, Judge Keith Truffer ordered a range of documents to be turned over to Louis Angelos and his lawyers, including from Wells Fargo and Goldman Sachs, an investment firm Georgia Angelos worked with on a possible sale of the Orioles. The judge also wanted Louis Angelos’ team to receive any documents and communications regarding a possible sale of the family’s interest in the Orioles or MASN. Truffer had set a deadline of 14 days, instructing Georgia and John Angelos to “produce financial statements reflecting the financial condition of the Baltimore Orioles Limited Partnership (”BOLP”), which includes the Orioles and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, from January 1, 2017, to the present.” Further, he wrote, they also would provide documents to show “compensation or other benefits paid to John Angelos from January 1, 2017 to present in connection with his duties for BOLP, including his work for the Baltimore Orioles and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.”
    • Sun says one of ththe reasons they settled was because of were getting closer to financial records being released. As legal battle delved further into Angelos family’s personal, financial dealings, they agree to drop lawsuits – Baltimore Sun httpsFCC://www.baltimoresun.com/maryland/bs-md-angelos-suit-settled-20230206-pqx4qtlw65dljjyihnmwywyv5i-story.html
    • It's certainly a start for sure. I really want it lower in the minors where it's tougher to get good video, but I take what I can get!
    • Probably the college world series.  The O's are paying for his decline phase!
    • oWAR + dWAR does not = WAR.  There is a positional adjustment to oWAR and dWAR that is double-counted if you simply add the two numbers.    That said, you are correct that Manny’s best rWAR year was his age 22 season.  His rWAR total that year was 7.5, not 8.0.  By fWAR, 2022 was Manny’s best year.  In any event, I think it’s fair to say Manny’s still in his prime, based on his excellent 2022 campaign.
    • webbrick's way off base here, but by oWAR + dWAR Machado's career high was 8.0 in his age 22 season and he had 7.4 last year.
