It is good for Votto and good for baseball to keep him off the Yankees and Red Sox. I would be surprised if it ends up being a good deal for Cincinnati.

Source: Votto extension with #Reds includes full no-trade for all 10 years. Also gets full no-trade for remaining 2 years of current deal.

Hard to imagine Cinci looking back on this deal in 10 years and saying it was a good idea.
