Tonight was just not a good night to play baseball, and when he started out shaky in the 1st I did not think he would last past the fifth. Shows what I know. He got squeezed a bit in the 1st inning on some pitches painting the corners, but he recovered about as well as you could have asked. Not dominating by any stretch of the imagination, but more than effective.

Me too. I thought he was toast and wouldn't make 5. Since he made 7, I will never doubt the Chen man again.

I agree with you. At first, I was hoping for the rain to open up. Shows what I know. For the cost, this very well may be the best signing of the whole offseason. How much does an average starting pitcher cost on the open market?? And we got this guy for 3 years? Huge bargain.

I like Chen's approach. He's not afraid to bust a fastball in on the hands. He's got pretty good command of all his pitches. He's similar to the pitcher Matusz wants to be.
