Umpire Bill Miller didn't like Lawrie trotting towards 1st on the first bad call so he rang him up on an even worse call. Of course Lawrie needs to take an unpaid vacation, but the ump should be suspended as well for incitement and general incompetence.

Stupid of Lawrie to show up an ump on the 1st call; Price could have 2-hopped that next one in and Miller would have rung him up. Throwing the helmet and hitting the ump should earn him a substantial sabbatical.

I've always been a bit put off by Lawrie. True, the plate appearance didn't go the way it should have, but that didn't give him license to go that far. If you're going to doff your helmet in anger in the first place, toss it aside or spike it at your side, don't doink it at the ump's feet and off his person. That doesn't fly.

If Goddell was the commissioner he would be suspended for the rest of the year and probably half of next year, along with the coaches, too.

Selig will probably throw down a 5-10 game suspension though.

Goodell would also initiate a rule, in the name of safety, where the helmet would be permanently attached to the head.
