I think the light punishment is a sign that MLB thinks that the Ump also acted improperly, and that the helmet contact was incidental.

Well that's good to know. On Monday, when Martin (?) basically told the umpire he was hit by a pitch and strolled down to first, Eveland should have kicked the ump in the stuff. That would be, what, a 7 game suspension?

Wow, only four games? That means a starting pitcher can accidentally smash an ump with some equipment if they get mad and not even miss a start. Good to know.

What a load. Even if you think he wasn't intentionally aiming the helmet at the ump, you have to tag him for throwing the helmet even anywhere CLOSE to the ump. As much as the umpires need a wake up call this season, there's a reason they're "untouchable" on the field.
