I guess this shouldn't shock me and the Strasburg stuff was probably worse. I mainly collect vintage cards (pre-1975) but never ceased to be amazed by some of this stuff...and the card isn't even graded.

People really still collect cards? I mean I can see picking up old cards but modern cards? Eh.

:agree:

I started collecting when you had 3 sets of cards in any given year: Topps, Fleer, and Donruss. I lost interest around 1990ish in the new stuff, but kept collecting the older stuff. First, it was the addition of "update / traded" sets each year, then stuff like "The Rookies" and "Opening Day" sets. After that, enter Sportflics (lol), Score, Upper Deck, and Bowman. After that, every company tried to out premium one another (Gold Foil, holograms, blah blah blah) and I lost count of the many varieties of cards out there. Gone were the days of 40 cent packs with 15 cards in them. I kept collecting pre 80's cards for a time until a former friend (was never able to prove, but he is the only one who knew where my stash was) got into my house when no one was home and stole all my valuable vintage cards. I became sickened with the whole hobby after that and haven't bought a card since.
