Does anyone follow National League strategy much? Is it typical to pitch to the #8 hitter in that situation, or do managers pitch around them in order to face the pitcher?

Not watching the game. Is it two outs? If so I would definitely challenge the 8 hitter and try and get the pitcher to lead off the next inning.

Two outs with a runner on third to be exact. Optimal strategy probably comes down to how good a batter the pitcher is. There's some cut-off point where you either do or don't pitch around #8. Also, if it was later in the game, it might be more likely with the one run lead.

Like the way this game is shaping up...Jackson is on a 6 IP pace right now, we're getting deep enough into counts, and it looks like we can nick a run or two off him before he leaves. Most importantly, Jake looks like he has good control and stuff tonight.
