Ryan Flaherty is batting less than .150 and you think Lew Ford is a bad option? If we go forward with Flaherty as a serious option, we deserve to lose.

What would Ryan Flaherty bat in AAA? We certainly will never find out, but if anything, his hold on a roster spot just strengthened.

C'mon second epidural. You just gotta hope that the pitching can pick it up in a major major way as unlikely as that seems at the moment. We just need complete game shutouts from everyone on the staff for 2-3 turns in the rotation in a row. Calm down everyone, they got this.

Very funny. The major players in the bullpen are well-rested again.

Over the next 15 games (3 for each starting pitcher), we'll need 4 games of at least 7 innings and 2 runs or less, 3 games of at least 7 innings and 3 runs or less, 3 games of at least 6 innings and 3 runs or less, 2 games of at least 6 innings and 4 runs or less, and 3 games of ........... 3 games of We'll have to Wing it Somehow baseball.

I guess..we should just work out a trade for him. He really provides no unique value with Tolleson up and doing reasonably well.

There is no trade that the Cubs will accept. Unless you want to give them Arrieta or Britton.

So did I, two days ago. :P

Steroids don't help with bones, HGH does.

I did not see that sorry. And in the Verducci article it addresses how HGH is necessary once the Steroids cause break downs. It's a good article.

They would wait out the O's so they can get him back for 25K.

Gotcha-thought so. I just am surprised by that though. Flaherty isn't exactly a highly touted guy and the Cubs have way too many holes to be picky.

He's more highly touted than anything we could reasonably give them back. They think that we will have to let him go back anyway.

If anything, his defensive improvement have made him more of a gem in their eyes. His bat is his ticket to the majors. He really can hit. He is a a minor leaguer at this point though.

    • There is no question in my mind that the coaching staff and analytics staff is doing everything in their power to make sure that Holliday is as well prepared as possible before every game.  And he's been in few enough games at this point to where I wonder if there's enough data yet to start drawing up an effective strategy anyway.  Now that the decision has been made to bring him up, Holliday is owed a long enough window to show he can't make the adjustment even with the benefit of the best support.  If that means he has to be sent down, I'm not going to stress about it.  I'm also not going to hold my breath that he'll turn the corner even so.  Adley made it, Gunnar made it, so did Westburg and Cowser and Mountcastle and Grayson...  If Holliday doesn't make it I'll be surprised and disappointed, but the Orioles under Elias are still way ahead of the game and Norby is looking for an opportunity and time marches on.
    • We have 5 guys on pace for 117 RBI.
    • If a good defensive SS hits 54 HR and is only worth 8.1 WAR I’m gonna have some serious questions on their methodology.
    • It’s not the same …. Henderson was batting just under .200. Holliday is batting .040. So about 20 % as good as Henderson was at his worst. And he’s striking out in more than 1 out of 2 trips to the plate.   There is no sense panicking either way. But, there is nothing wrong with sending him down. I think too many of you guys are acting like not sticking with him is some kind of sin. As a fan, I’m worried about damaging his confidence too much.    Plus after all the bullshit from his father, hopefully now he will keep his mouth shut.
    • Pedantic is an adjective. Your definition has it as a noun.
    • There's a difference between being patient at the plate as opposed to comatose.
