Johan Santana No Hiiter through 8

With Jonathon Niese's 6 shutout innings last night, Mets starters have not given up a run to the Cardinals in 24 innings pitched in the first 3 games of the 4-game series.

What made it even more remarkable is that the Cardinals had the league's best offense. Even after getting shut out for 27 innings, the Cards batting average, slugging, and OPS still leads the NL (and is second to the Rangers in BA).

They go for the sweep today with Dillon Gee toeing the rubber for the boys from Queens.

Well, fortunately that didn't happen (Mets have never swept a 4-game series from the Cards in NY). However, the Cards returned to their losing ways against the Astros last night.

Pretty amazing considering no Pujols, no Berkman, and Holliday underperforming. Also interesting the Cards are well under ther pythageron so far.
