Per Melewski: O's to select one of Correa, Gausman, Zimmer, Fried

Recommended Posts

In the latest mock draft published on its Web site Friday, Baseball America projected that Houston, picking first, would take Stanford pitcher Mark Appel. Minnesota, at two, would take high school outfielder Byron Buxton. Seattle, selecting third, is projected to take University of Florida catcher Mike Zunino.

If those players go in the top three, industry sources indicate the O's then may have pared their list to four for that fourth pick.

In alphabetical order they are: Puerto Rican high school shortstop Carlos Correa, high school lefty pitcher Max Fried, LSU right-hander pitcher Kevin Gausman and University of San Francisco right-hander pitcher Kyle Zimmer.

Haven't heard Fried's name before. Anyone have information? Gausman, Zimmer, or Correa all seem fine.

I would think if Buxton is still around we snag him. Ive read our scouts love him. I was really hoping for Almora but will be very happy with Buxton, Correa, or gausman. Im not a Zimmer fan. I do like Fried a lot but not at 4. Can't wait for the draft to start!!

Agreed on all accounts. I would prefer Zimmer to Fried, though I'm not a huge fan of either. Disappointing we're considering Fried but not Almora.
