Pedro Borbon died today.

I remember him ripping a Mets hat apart with his teeth during the infamous Mets-Reds brawl (Bud Harrelson and Pete Rose) in Game Three of the 1973 N.L.C.S.

Another story that Borbon’s teammates swear is true is this one: Before leaving with the Reds on a 10-day road trip, Borbon set out 10 bowls of food for his dog at their Cincinnati home, figuring the dog would ration his own meals. The house was not a pretty sight upon the master’s return.
