More Unbalanced Schedule On The Way?

I have to think this is to minimize travel costs in a way that most casual fans don't notice. But if they really wanted to fix the travel they should divide up into four regional leagues and eliminate interleague altogether. 100% of the Orioles schedule would be in the northeast quarter of the US. But that's radical and unacceptable to baseball.

It just makes no sense at all to have an unbalanced schedule with wildcards that, by their very nature, assume everyone's strength of schedule is the same.

And it's also an issue that the AL and NL have the same playoff structure even though the AL has been demonstrably superior for 5+ years, and a 85-win playoff team in the AL West would probably win about 75 games in the AL East and finish 15 games out of the 2nd wildcard.
