I second this. Living in 'nats town' I have a hard time rooting for them, I am forced to hear about them each morning on the radio or in the paper. But still, I hate the yanks more than anyone.

Well said. I was thinking about this weekend's conundrum last night, but this is a good way to think about it. Because I cannot bring myself to root for the Nats, but I have rooted against the Yankees every day of my life.

I've seen it said on here before and I'll echo the sentiment; the Yankees could be playing the Taliban and I'd still root against them.

I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to the Natspos, but it would be great to see them win the series or even sweep. 9-0 against Bos, Tor and NY would be incredibly impressive.

The bad part about it is, if the Nationals, say, sweep the Yankees (a bit unlikely, but say it happens), they will have won nine in a row, all against the AL East, and we'd have to hear just that much more crap about them since they'd be 18 games over .500. MFYs are 9-1 in their last 10 and the Gnats are 8-2, so it will be interesting, in any case. On one hand I welcome anything that could help the Orioles in the standings, but on the other, having the Nationals be the cause would make me feel a bit less than great about it.

Industry sources say that the Taliban has been working on their time to plate, will spend more in the draft, and are looking to improve team defense.

The Nationals will have Gonzalez, Zimmermann, and Jackson going for them. Time to put an end to that Yankee win streak and take over first.

Right - I'll "root" for the Nats just like I was "rooting" for the Braves the past few days (thanks for nothing, Braves). But the O's just need to do their own thang.

Rooting against the Yankees is like rooting against the Lernaean Hydra, just when you think they're down, they pull some kind of trade, their slumping guys get hot again, or somebody comes off an injury. At least we have another WC slot open to us now.
