North Carolina's all-time record is 58-0 vs. Clemson at home ........ dating back to 1926. ll O.o

10 years ago in 2008, Clemson was ahead by 11 points with only 3 minutes left to play ........ but Tyler Hansbrough and company outsourced Clemson 13-3 over those final 3 minutes to send the game into overtime. North Carolina eventually won the game in double-overtime, extending this amazingly eerie streak.

Clemson will get another shot at the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, on Tuesday night.

After back-to-back appearances in the National Championship game in 2016 and 2017, North Carolina bowed out in the Round of 32 in 2018.

Texas A&M also scored a major upset over the Tar Heels in the round of 32 in 1980, when I was in 9th grade, and when Mike O'Koren was a senior.

After a scoreless overtime period, the Aggies outscored the Tar Heels by a 25-8 count in the 2nd overtime in that game from 38 years ago.

I'm afraid that's probably going to be your national championship game.

Duke's gotta great shot and a great team this year.

Never thought UK would get there (even before they, you know, actually lost).  They just weren't that strong a team.  Calipari got his title, but if you look at more recent results I'm still not a believer that his system of one-and-dones is the way to go.  I suspect the rules will be changing soon anyway.

MARCH 14th, 2019

After having their heads handed to them by Louisville 2 months ago by a score of 83-62, North Carolina has beaten the Cardinals twice, including a win in the ACC quarterfinal round tonight.

Overall, the Tar Heels have gone 15-1 in all of their games since that afternoon in Chapel Hill, with the only loss coming to Virginia on February 11th.

In 1968, Williams was an 18 year-old player for the University of North Carolina JV basketball team.

In 1973, he began his career as a head coach in basketball at the age of 23 for Charles D. Owen High School.

Today in 2021, he announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 70.

    • After his Cy Young performance against us, Marsh was very pedestrian in his next 2 starts.  Be nice to take tonight's game with Ragans pitching tomorrow.  2 out of 3 would be a great result.
    • Should win tonight. There’s no way they can get shut down by a pitcher of Marsh’s capabilities twice.
    • WC wanted to give him a contract extension.  Others agreed although I don’t remember who they were.  I think Frobby was open to the discussion??
    • I've seen Stowers "lollygag" a lot this year. I wonder if he's just frustrated being stuck in AAA once again. No matter how everything is presented, these guys have to be upset that they are stuck in AAA when they could be playing in the MLB with other orgs.  Of course the best way to get out of that is to perform, but that's easier said than done. Saying all that, Stowers has always been a streaky hitter. He's white hot or ice cold.
    • Here's John Means statcast info from this last start. Here was his main problem. He couldn't throw many quality strikes and was pulling almost everything glove side. I'm no pitching expert, and I don't know where he was standing on the rubber, but Ben McDonald talks about this all the time where the pitcher needs to make an adjustment on the pitching rubber when he missing to one side too often. Here's his movement since 2019 T The one thing to note is Means' stuff has been pretty average to below average since 2021. He's always relied on changing speeds and location vs incredible stuff. He had no location in this last start but everything else like velocity and movement look similar to the last few years.  So I'm not overly worried about Means. I also don't expect him to be much better than Irvin if and when he comes back, but you never know.
    • Their 55 relief innings are a MLB low ytd as all the starters have done well.    I think they probably want to ride those horses as much as they can as one of my takeaways from the first series was how slow all the relievers throw. Witt's a good MVP rabbit for Gunnar to chase, and he might bring up the question if a Club can still get a Prospect Promotion incentive bonus pick if the player is technically out of pre-Arb by virtue of having signed a LTC. Here are the ERA starting numbers of the lowest-tier of AL SP in strikeout rate: 6-4-8-6-8-1-10-4-7-7-6-7.    Marsh and Lugo have two of the low numbers there. Maikel Garcia has gone ice cold, a bit surprising as he looked All World against us.    They are just now getting perhaps intended starting 2B Michael Massey back from a spring injury (Adam Frazier all singles so far on the season). Burnes-Ragans rematch should have our guy's dander up...we pulled it out against the bullpen but he was outpitched by a lot that night.    Doesn't matter now but it looks like Ragans has never thrown more than about 2200 pitches in a season, in case they end up needing him for more than 26.5 regular season weeks.
    • Well, he didn't know he was going to have a short stint when he was pitching.
