Are we a potential landing spot?

We're not listed as one of the teams interested. Is that because we're being stealthy, or is it because we're just not interested in an OBP machine who plays a decent defense at a location that badly needs an upgrade? Oh, and btw, he knows how to win a championship, too.

If we're not at least in on this, I'd be shocked.

His defense has degraded with his health. I am not sold that the current incarnation of Youkilis is an upgrade over the current collection of stiffs the O's are throwing out there. (btw his obp is .311 this season.)

I agree that it would make sense to at least check in on him, which they may have already done. I think being in the same division must have something to with us not being in on it. Otherwise that OBP and his defense would make him an ideal candidate for the next two years IMO until (hopefully) Machado emerges.

At age 33, I think it's likely he still has a good bit left if given a starting role. 9 errors in 112 games at 3B last year. That's MUCH better than the crap we've been trotting out there. It's also unlikely that his age would effect his ability to field at 3B.

Count me in as wishing we were in on this trade. I don't know what it would take to get him, and I know that it is intradivision, but I would take Youk in a heartbeat, and the Red Sox have no choice but to trade him.

It isn't age so much as injuries. Also errors are pretty much the worst way to quantify defense, seriously I put the ole eyeball test above errors. Do you know that Eddie Murray led both leagues in fielding percentage? The same Eddie whose uniform was always clean since he wouldn't dive for a ball.

Yep, Eddie was lazy. He wouldn't even run like a maniac on a routine ground ball. He the team and winning. Good thing we ran his ass out of town.

Our priorities IMO are:

SP

3B

LH LF bat to platoon with Pearce.

If we are serious about upgrading at 3B Youkilis is not the answer. We should go after Headley.

That's how I see it. Though I think between Chavez and Avery we have the chance to solve LF internally.

I looked real quickly. And I don't know exactly know where to look up the other defensive stats.

But I used the errors along with the fact that I know Youk has a good reputation as a defender. He's at least average, and when healthy with the bat, he's tops in the league at 3rd offensively.
