Not too upset over losing Simon (I like Mike Wright better) but Lino stings a bit.

Yeah Id have to agree with this sentiment. Simon I'm okay giving up but Lino is much tougher to separate with. Although Lino stats in Low-A aren't too spectacular last time I checked.

Not sure why anyone is upset about losing Lino. He's a B tier prospect 3-4 years from the majors at best.

This is exactly how I feel. Always liked Thome. I think he is the only 90s power hitter guy left playing.

Thome is not in the lineup vs. the LHP Buehrle, if that matters.

Thome is never in the line-up because he can't play the field.

I think I'll wait to appraise this until I see what Thome does for the next two months. I think it is hard to rate deals like this when the "prospects" aren't highly touted. To declare this a bad deal right now seems a touch premature.

I don't like giving up Lino in this deal. That's too steep a price for a 3 month rental of a 40 yr old. I like Thome - but he shouldn't cost a top 10 prospect at this stage.

I do, and I know there's about a 5% chance he ever produces as much as Jim Thome will likely produce for us this year at the ML level.

I do. I've seen him a dozen times this year. He has lots of power. He needs work behind the dish, but he'll be a decent backstop for somebody. At the least a backup. He'll make it.
