The Pirates have acquired left-handed starter Wandy Rodriguez from the Astros in exchange for minor leaguers Rudy Owens, Robbie Grossman, and Colton Cain.

Good haul by the Astros IMO. I wonder how much the Pirates picked up on Wandy Rodriguez.

Looks like one of those trades that will be decent for both sides. It's nice to see the Pirates in the thick of things, even though I'm not a fan.

The Astros have done a real nice job.

Adding 3B Matt Dominguez, LHP Rob Rasmussen, RHP Asher Wojciechowski, LHP Joe Musgrove, C Carlos Perez, OF Robbie Grossman, LHP Rudy Owens and LHP Colton Cain through trades...

Then having a draft class of SS Carlos Correa, RHP Lance McCullers Jr., SS Nolan Fontana, 3B Rio Ruiz, OF Brett Phillips and RHP Brady Rodgers...

Wow... Adding those 14 guys to a system that already includes 1B/OF John Singleton, OF George Springer, RHP Jarred Cosart, OF Domingo Santana, OF Ariel Ovando, 2B Delino DeShields Jr., SS Jonathan Villar, and RHP Mike Foltynewicz gives the Astros a nice little system. Add in the fact that they are more than likely going to get the #1 pick again next year, and I can't help but like what the Astros are doing.

Not to mention the Astros have a grand total of $5.5M TOTAL on the books for next year in the $5M they are giving the Pirates in the Wandy trade and catcher Chris Snyder's $500K buyout... This is how a rebuild is supposed to look.

Wandy will help now, but this will balance out as an overpay in a few years.
