Yeah, so was I. For what it's worth, he's got three shutout innings so far and he's locating well.

Gausman threw 30 pitches in his three innings, mostly fastballs with a few changeups and the occasional curve.

Rick Peterson very impressed by Gausman today "That was really special. The guys with fastball-changeups, they can fly through systems."

Peterson absolutely raved about Gausman. I'm transcribing all the audio I got now, I'll have something written soonish.

Peterson raves about Gausman because Gausman was the prototypical Peterson pitcher.

Peterson has stated that if you give him a raw young pitcher he will do these three steps in order, and if he masters those three steps he'll be a big league star.

1)Fastball Command(Check for Gausman but obviously you can always improve)

2)Feel for a strikeout change-up.(Check for Gausman. Gausman's change is viewed by scouts as his best pitch and when I saw it during the CWS I was amazed by the movement on it)

3)Breaking ball that makes your fastball and change look better.(Not yet a check for Gausman. His main drawback is his lack of consistent breaking ball but by Peterson's development standards, Gausman is on the perfect pace)

So Gausman will be Peterson's shiny new toy that he gets to mold into what he views a perfect pitcher and I'm just as excited about Bundy as I am in Gausman.

I would send him straight to Frederick and if he continues to do well there send him to Bowie for a start or two before their season ends. Not sure they want to have Bundy and Gausman on the same team. We don't want two #1's battling to see who gets to OP first. Although if Bundy does well at Bowie he may go to Norfolk for one or two starts before ending the season.
