Who is your Orioles MVP this year?

September is right around the corner, we're in a playoff hunt and this season has been so wacky, weird and awesome, I thought I'd ask.

Should be some good answers/debates in here.

If you would have asked me a month ago, I'd likely have said Adam Jones. Right now, I'm saying Jim Johnson...and I actually HATE saying that about relievers.

Lots of potential candidates but no one really stands out.

If forced to choose I would go with Jim Johnson. The strength of this team has been the bullpen, and Johnson is the anchor of the bullpen. Take away 2 very bad outings in which he gave up 11 runs in 0.2 IP and his numbers are ridiculous.

I'm sure the WARlords will not like that answer, but I'll take him as my MVP.

To be honest, it should be a combo of all our bullpen guys. Without them, there is no way we have the year we are having. But since that will never happen, you have to go with Jones

With Adam Jones' recent decline in power, and Nick Markakis's injury, I have to give the nod to Wei-Yin Chen. He has been the only consistent presence in a rotation held together with an Elmer's glue stick.

According to bb-ref, the team leader in WAR is Strop, with Chen close behind (Johnson is 10th). I'd probably give it to Jones, though.

To this point, I'd also say Jim Johnson. But an awful lot of guys have made significant contributions. With 35 games to play, the award is still up for grabs.

Johnson. He's a mode of consistency and we're lucky to have him on our side.

How do you get that from what he wrote? Giving Johnson his due doesn't have to be perceived as a slight to Strop, who has also been valuable.

That isn't the point I was making. How can JJ be the MVP when Strop could give you close to the same performance if he was in the same role?

Johnson to me has been a fine bullpen arm this season but so have a number of other guys, he shouldn't be the MVP solely based on the roles assigned by Buck.

If you eliminate saves from the equation what is there about JJ's numbers that elevate him from the rest of the bullpen?
