Clement isn't regarded as a good defensive catcher, so that would only hinder our young staff. He's more valuable as a trade chip than he is at 1B.

However it happens, I really hope that Clement is at least a part of the deal. I agree, I'd personally like to see him traded for a really good SS prospect like Brignac, but let's hope Peace is right and we get him along w/ Jones + ?? in a deal with the M's.

Are you hearing anything about talks with Millar to the Rangers? Nothing serious yet but ongoing conversations.

Haven't read through the whole thread yet so sorry if this has been posted.

The Rangers traded for Ben Broussard and picked up Chris Shelton. Seems like the perfect 1B platoon to me.

Thanks for all the info.

I'm just not convinced that any of the Mariner's prospects will turn out to be all-star quality players. Adam Jones will be a very good player, but not quite elite (a Mike Cameron type or at best Torii Hunter). I wouldn't hate a Jones/Clement centered deal, but I feel we could do better.

I would much prefer a deal with the Reds with Cueto and Hamilton as the key pieces. I'm a huge fan of Hamilton and Cueto seems like a sure bet for a #2 starter or better. Sure, Hamilton is 27 and has a history, but he's an amazing talent. I think he'll be extremely productive for 8-10 years, and has 40 HR power and has a gun of an arm.

I'd take a Torii Hunter in a heartbeat!!!

Mike Cameron and Torii Hunter were both All-Stars. If that's what Jones turns into, I'll gladly take that manning CF for the next 6+ years.

Gun of an arm, eh? :)

I don;t see him being "extremely productive" after 35 years of age. I'd prefer not to get Hamilton as we already know this team won't be competitive for a few years. The O's shouldn;t add anyone over 25 unless they'll be flipped elsewhere.

I prefer a reds deal as well. Maybe this M's talk will get them off the mark. And maybe we could expand the deal a bit. I want Cueto, Hamilton and Votto for Bedard. If I had to kick in Millar, no problem. Maybe they would like Ramon? I'd swap Ramon for Valentin if it would get the 3 others back for Bedard. Aslo, Keppinger would be a huge addition to the O's. I am hoping that Krivsky gets a little pep in his step and steps up soon.

Jones hasn't really proved anything in the big leagues. Hamilton had 19 homers in 298 ABs. Bat Markakis 3rd and Hamilton 4th. That's pretty exciting to me.

IMO...

Adam Jones = Mike Cameron

Josh Hamilton = Matt Holliday
