A Major League Baseball official with knowledge of the league's drug testing confirmed that New York Yankees All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano did not test positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

The official spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because MLB is not allowed to comment on test results.Cano vehemently denied Thursday night that he was about to be assessed a 50-game suspension, a report that originally surfaced on Twitter.
