Am I the only one who really likes Flaherty?

I have been a fan of Flaherty since I checked out his minor league stats last year and seeing who the Orioles cut run out there this year. Andino. If Andino had played at the same level that he did last year. Pretty solid defense and really average power 4-10 hrs and hit at a .250 avg with a .320 OBP. If Andino could of put up those numbers we never would of gotten Quint to play for a month. Then When Quint seems lost at the plate Flaherty steps into the vacume and is making a pretty clear deal that he deserves to be starting against all right handed pitching. And it is getting closer to letting him hit against lefties as well.

Because as someone has mentioned before. "the kid just looks so hitterish" Power that this kid obviously has can make up for some mistakes in the field.

I vote Flaherty for the playoffs and for opening the season with us next season at 2nd base as a starter.

You've got to ride the hot hand now.

.298/.355/.579 since July 1 (63 PAs).

That kind of production will make up for a couple of errors.

I'm starting to come to the conclusion that Dan Duquette and Buck Showalter know more about baseball than I do. I was pretty ready to offer Flaherty back to the Cubs back in June. The team played well while Flaherty was on the DL in August and I really didn't think he'd be back. But he has made some valuable contributions down the stretch. I still don't know if he will make the opening day roster next year, but I certainly think he's justified the decision to keep him on the roster all year and try to develop him. There's potential in his bat.

Oh I think Flaherty has a good shot at being our 2nd baseman. He really hasn't been given a shot yet, but I think Buck really likes him or he would have been sent packing by now, and who are we to judge Buck's decisions, he has been right on all year. But given an opportunity, Flaherty I believe has some pop in his bat and he is definitely not a defensive liability, so why not give him a shot

If Flaherty's bat is for real, any thoughts about moving him to 3B and moving Machado to 2B next year?

Surely you jest? I think Flaherty spends this winter working on his D at 2nd base, then gets every opportunity to start there, at least against righty's, next year. He should also take groundballs at third, IMO, so that when/if Manny ever moves over to short, he is a possibility at third. But I really like Manny to stay at short, to be honest.

Can Ryan Flaherty be an ok starting 2b for the Orioles next season? With full playing time, could you see .240, 20 hr, 60 runs, 60 rbi? Btw I am not just a "fan" who came here because the Orioles are finally starting to win. I have been an Orioles fan for 9 years.

    • So since Westburg is apparently still ROY eligible, Cowser and Westburg may project to be the best rookie combination since Fred Lynn and Jim Rice in 1975?
    • There were several and I was one them. I'm  on record as saying I was one of his biggest Apologists . You should feel good about yourself as you were able to see that Means would be imploding before our very eyes( which was an opinion or a guess, which is what I did) as far as feeling bad for me? Dont I'm plenty good enough to know I wont be able to guess right every time
    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
    • What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
