The Relative Continuum of At Bat Quality -- What O's Fans Dream Up When They're Bored By The Poor Offense

0 = worst

100 = best

0 = hit into a triple play

1 = GIDP

2 = strike out

3 = any of: pop out, fly out, or ground out without advancing baserunners

10 = ground into one out that advances at least one baserunner

20 = ground into a double play that scores a run

25 = ground into one out that scores a run

35 = intentional walk

40 = "unintentional" walk, hit by pitch

45 = walk with bases loaded

50 = single

60 = single, RBI

75 = double

80 = double, RBI(s)

85 = triple

90 = triple, RBI(s)

100 = homer

*Add 10 points if the batter takes 8 or more pitches, then another point for each pitch after 8, regardless of the result.

Inning #1: McLouth gets a 100, Hardy gets a 40, and Jones gets a 2.

Inning #2: Wieters gets a 2, Thome gets a 2, and Reynolds gets a 3.

Inning #3: Flaherty gets a 14, Machado gets a 2 and McLouth gets a 3.

Total points: 168 through 3 innings. I think league par for a typical game would be between 200 - 300 through 3 innings. Even the O's own par for this season would be in that range.
