It seems like the ball comes in higher than the batter expects it to given the release point and velocity. So they constantly swing under the pitch.

Could it also be the length of his stride? Extend the release of the ball closer to the batter than normal?

Possibly. Bottom line is lots of guys swing under his fastball. Also he seems to have two different fastballs. One that has a downward plane and one that has an even / upward plane. His first pitch to Gomez had a downward plane, the 3rd strike had an upward plane.

Okay now that I'm look at it more closely, he seems to start off at bats with fastballs that sink. His first pitch to both Gomez and Salty very clearly started up high and ended up in the bottom of the zone. Then when he got to 2 strikes on both guys, he starts throwing a pitch that rises. So the batter's eyes get used to the ball sinking and then he punches them out on a ball that rises.
