That Andy Pettitte is a real power arm.

Petettie has identical stats in the regular season and postseason. Power arms typically raise there level of game in the playoffs. They just go nuts and fire it in there like it's the last time they will ever pitch.

Greg Maddux has a losing record in the postseason. It was power arm John Smoltz (an inferior pitcher) who went 15-4 with a 2.67 ERA in the postseason. Power arms in the playoffs it what wins. Not Maddux type guys.

So what if he had a losing record? His ERA in post season was right around his career average and you generally face better competition in the post season. Or is this your "wins" only count argument? Smoltz also had the advantage of pitching relief. Cliff Lee?

Strop, Tillman, Hammel, Gonzalez, Bundy, etc. Pretty much anyone with a power fastball or a legit 4-seamer. JJ's ERA was 2.49. That's too high for a closer.

Strop may be a closer one day, the majority of people here were predicting that in August before he got in his slump, and they came to the conclusion that he pitched to a 2.00 era only by luck, and that the way he wears his hat affects his pitching.:rolleyestf:

Personally I think Johnson and a few of the other guys are just tired. Maybe they are just choking, none of them have gotten this far.

I'm sorry but this this has just really gotten too dumb for me. I'm out.
