"Don't throw it away. Don't throw it at all!"

I love this one. It really sums up the reality of the last 15 years. Gary Thorne has seen the Orioles make bad decisions just like everyone else has over the last few years, and for a second he was a fan expecting the worse. But he forgot one thing... this was the 2012 Baltimore Orioles, expect the un-expected.

Thorne's and Bordick's reaction to that play was golden!

Another great Gary Thorne moment from late in the season. Jason Hammel was pitching, and an easy pop fly went high into the air on the right side of the infield. Mark Reynolds and Jason Hammel were both there. The pitcher usually yields in a situation like this, but Hammel remained very close to the ball that was coming down (along with Reynolds.) Thorne says, "An easy pop fly," but when he sees Hammel still right next to Reynolds when the ball is about to come down, he lowers his voice a little, and speaks more sternly and quickly and says, "Get out of the way." Reynolds catches the ball, and I got a good laugh out of Thorne quickly but briefly turning into (strictly) a fan. :laughlol:

Too many to decide, really. Unfortunately, I've had to purge my DVR, and have been watching a lot of this season's moments. Among them...the comeback against the White Sox in April, the Cinco de Mayo and Chris Davis games against the Red Sox, the Jim Palmer Day walk-off victory against the Tigers, the Cal Ripken Day game versus the MFY, and the 18-inning game against Seattle (a game I watched live from beginning to end). Great stuff, all of it. What a unique team and season.

Wilson Betemit. His walk off homer against Oakland. His ill-timed error at third base in the Chris Davis game that made the 16th inning interesting. The time(s) when there was a shallow pop up to third and he just kinda threw his glove blindly hoping to catch it, and when he didn't he just walked away. Early June being our most consistent hitter. And the time when he wore the wrong hat.

    • So since Westburg is apparently still ROY eligible, Cowser and Westburg may project to be the best rookie combination since Fred Lynn and Jim Rice in 1975?
    • There were several and I was one them. I'm  on record as saying I was one of his biggest Apologists . You should feel good about yourself as you were able to see that Means would be imploding before our very eyes( which was an opinion or a guess, which is what I did) as far as feeling bad for me? Dont I'm plenty good enough to know I wont be able to guess right every time
    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
    • What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
