Reds pushing for Bedard hard?

First off ths is my first post and I am a Reds fan who loves the game of baseball.I visit other teams boards like the hangout here to see what other teams are thinking. But let me tell you I think the hangout is the best BB board around for just bb talk or trade talk.I love this board so far.

Now lets get ot the meat of my post.I am hearing that the Reds and the O's are very close on a Bedard trade.I have heard that it will be Cueto,Votto,Janish or Loo,Stubbs, and another minor leaguer (but not sure of who it is) for Bedard and a reliever(wasnt gave the name). Now take this how you will because I am in no way or claim to be a insider.I came by my info in a weird way.I am a co-founder of a UK bb message board and have ties close to some boosters from the Lexington area.As you may know Lexington is only about a hour or so from Cincinnati and a couple of my booster friends are from the Cincinnati/Fort Mitchell area. They also have insight in the Reds offices aswell. They are season ticket holders and big dollar guys around the ball club.Infact the guy that told me my info is close frineds with a couple guys close to WK.So while I was trying to talk UK BB and recruiting me and my guy starting talking Reds BB.He told me that he heard a trade couple happen as soon as this evening or tomorrow. But he did say that they were deep into conversations about doing the trade.

Now take this how you will because I am UK BB insider and I am not a baseball insider.I decided to post what I heard to see if any of your insiders here as heard about this.So if PEace,Belkast,or any other insiders who may have heard this could post back I would greatly appreciate it.

By the way I think it would be a great trade both ways if it does happen.

On another note I bet this guy's board is blowing up right now!

One worry I have with the Reds is that they may not be a playoff team with Bedard. If they are not and Bedard pitches well, the Reds could decide to deal EB and he could end up back in our division next season.

I think Seattle is much less likely to move EB after this season than the Reds.

All the more reason to trade him for the best possible deal regardless of team. It's likely he's going to end up back in the AL East at some point anyway so why not get the best deal.

Murton, Gallagher, and Patterson is very fair value for Roberts. Sucks to not be getting Pie, though. I think if we're settling for Murton instead of Pie, that maybe we could squeeze both Cedeno and Patterson, maybe having to include a halfway decent prospect or reliever on our end.

I think you definitely need to turn around and move one of either Scott or Murton once you acquire them. I think Scott is a bit better than Murton, but also has more value. I'd probably look to trade him and keep Murton.

Here's my preference on a Bedard trade with the M's / Reds:

Jones, Clement, Morrow/Balentien

Cueto, Votto, and Hamilton/Encarnacion

Jones, Clement, 1-2 other prospects

Cueto, Votto, 2 other prospects

Mackus. Have you ever thought about putting a Murton/Scott platoon out there in LF?

I really think that this year, of all years, DT would use a platoon if it made sense out there.

Scott over the last 3 seasons has a .898 OPS against RHP in around 550 ABs.

Murton over the last 3 season has a .909 OPS against LFP in around 250 ABs.

I mean we could have some nice matchups for limited cost out there in the field. I think it would make sense to aquire Murton. I know Davearm was pretty high on him last year.

I think platooning either of these guys is a mistake. They both hit both arms well enough to be regular starters. If they're both on the team and we get a CF like Jones, then whoever is worse defensively goes to DH.

I agree if we are rebuilding we need to remove roster junk and make room for these guys in the everyday line-up.

Millar should be easy to move for atleast a bag of balls!

Millar, Mora and Payton I think we should be able to move without having to eat too much salary. We'll likely target guys that wouldn't need to be on the 40-man in return for them.

I think Huff will be difficult to move, and Gibbons will be impossible but if he doesn't start off the season hot, I think we should cut him.

Well if we get the Seattle package Huff can play 1st. Get rid of Mora and Millar and bench Payton. Gibbons well I dont care about him and i would imagine he starts the season on the 60 DL anyway.

I do not know if this has already been put up, but this was on Roch's blog this morning:

"The Sports Casters in Cincinnati are acting like Bedard is on his way to the queen city. They have already interviewing players that could be involved in trades. They don't seem to happy about it.

I've seen most the players play live involved in the trade. Joey Votto is ready to start every day at first. Josh Hamilton has a good bat and solid but room for improvement on defense. He's also a really nice guy from what I hear.

Homer Bailey and or Jay Bruce are at least a year away from making the 25 man roster. Bailey is still really young. He reminds me a lot of Hayden Penn. He's got good breaking stuff but his fastball will rarely touch 90.

I think Joey Votto is going to be a star and is underappreciated in this possible trade. Since the Orioles haven't had a good hitting first baseman since Raffy, I think this is more of a priority than Bruce.

    • After his Cy Young performance against us, Marsh was very pedestrian in his next 2 starts.  Be nice to take tonight's game with Ragans pitching tomorrow.  2 out of 3 would be a great result.
    • Should win tonight. There’s no way they can get shut down by a pitcher of Marsh’s capabilities twice.
    • WC wanted to give him a contract extension.  Others agreed although I don’t remember who they were.  I think Frobby was open to the discussion??
    • I've seen Stowers "lollygag" a lot this year. I wonder if he's just frustrated being stuck in AAA once again. No matter how everything is presented, these guys have to be upset that they are stuck in AAA when they could be playing in the MLB with other orgs.  Of course the best way to get out of that is to perform, but that's easier said than done. Saying all that, Stowers has always been a streaky hitter. He's white hot or ice cold.
    • Here's John Means statcast info from this last start. Here was his main problem. He couldn't throw many quality strikes and was pulling almost everything glove side. I'm no pitching expert, and I don't know where he was standing on the rubber, but Ben McDonald talks about this all the time where the pitcher needs to make an adjustment on the pitching rubber when he missing to one side too often. Here's his movement since 2019 T The one thing to note is Means' stuff has been pretty average to below average since 2021. He's always relied on changing speeds and location vs incredible stuff. He had no location in this last start but everything else like velocity and movement look similar to the last few years.  So I'm not overly worried about Means. I also don't expect him to be much better than Irvin if and when he comes back, but you never know.
    • Their 55 relief innings are a MLB low ytd as all the starters have done well.    I think they probably want to ride those horses as much as they can as one of my takeaways from the first series was how slow all the relievers throw. Witt's a good MVP rabbit for Gunnar to chase, and he might bring up the question if a Club can still get a Prospect Promotion incentive bonus pick if the player is technically out of pre-Arb by virtue of having signed a LTC. Here are the ERA starting numbers of the lowest-tier of AL SP in strikeout rate: 6-4-8-6-8-1-10-4-7-7-6-7.    Marsh and Lugo have two of the low numbers there. Maikel Garcia has gone ice cold, a bit surprising as he looked All World against us.    They are just now getting perhaps intended starting 2B Michael Massey back from a spring injury (Adam Frazier all singles so far on the season). Burnes-Ragans rematch should have our guy's dander up...we pulled it out against the bullpen but he was outpitched by a lot that night.    Doesn't matter now but it looks like Ragans has never thrown more than about 2200 pitches in a season, in case they end up needing him for more than 26.5 regular season weeks.
    • Well, he didn't know he was going to have a short stint when he was pitching.
