1) No expensive FAs

2) Would like McLouth back

3) Looking at how much it will take to sign Reynolds but loves his glove at 1st

4) Believes Davis can play the OF corners, 1B and DH

5) Will continue to add players from around the world

6) Machado at 3B and Hardy at SS for at least two years

7) Promoting that Bundy and Gausman could make a jump from AA. He is not saying when

8) Flaherty playing winter ball to get more at bats; promoting his HR/AB ratio in 2nd half

9) Roberts is working out to be ready for ST but if he can't make it back the O's have other options

Did you miss the part of the middle if the lineup being exposed in the playoffs? Sound like that may be a focus but I'm not sure what he can do if he can't sign any $$$ free agents

Pitching depth is a strength he could leverage on the trade market for a stick.

Sounds a lot like this year. Also gives him flexibility for in season adjustments which he excelled at this year. I think a big FA signing is a pipe dream. A trade is more likely in my opinion. I actually believe him. Do not get the idea he likes to be used by agents just to drive up the price of FAs for other teams. Do not believe the O's name will be prominent in national media this offseason. I am amazed at what he did in a short offseason, so am excited to see the random pieces he picks up in a long offseason.

Fairly good interview, a lot of pertinent questions and fairly clear answers. The host should try to learn Dan's first name though. They will try to work a deal with Reynolds, and McLouth. They aren't looking to move Manny to SS and move Hardy. They feel they have 2B option within their system if Roberts can't cut it. SP looks deep enough that they aren't likely to spend big in FA for a TOR. They like Davis as more than just a DH. They are looking to build the club through trades and more international signings, as opposed to FA. The one big question that wasn't asked was what do they intend to do about the team's poor OBP, and situational hitting? That would have been my first question.

If we resign Reynolds mclouth and have internal options for 2b where are we going to upgrade? Sounds like Duquette does a good job of talking in circles or at least saying the right things to keep his options open....ie mclouth/Reynolds/2b

I don't think he was as definitive about no. 6 as you phrased it. He certainly indicated that for now he saw no reason to fool with the defensive alignment. I agree wholeheartedly. I also did not get the impression that either Bundy or Gausman is a serious option to make the club out of spring training, but after they have proved themselves in AA.

He also hoped Britton could be back.

Yeah. Considering that the team wants Reynolds and McLouth back, and think they have an in-house answer at 2B, that only leaves maybe two players on the 25-man roster to improve upon the OBP. Maybe the team is going to try to get their existing players to get on base more?

Actually the first player that comes to mind is Machado, who has a lot of room to improve on his .294 OBP.

A full year of Reynolsds, McLouth, Markakis, and Manny, will do wonders for our OBP. We still need one more guy IMO.
