Would anyone be willing to give Melky Cabrera a 1 year deal?

Im not sure if I would or not. With the PED issues and all, but he will be out to prove something. How much did ped's improve his numbers? How much will they suffer without them?

His career line is .284/.338/.414/.752. Never struck out alot, has some speed, and plays good defense. Is he worth a one year chance?

Pass. Not interested in a cheater. And how do you know he won't try it again. Until MLB imposes a stiffer sentence on these clowns I would think they would be inclined to do it again. What's to stop them, a 50 game suspension? Meanwhile he gets paid. Again. And the team he signs with gets left to twist in the wind. No thanks.

Realistically, we probably cheered on at least a couple PED/former PED users this past season on the O's. I don't really like the guy, but I don't have a problem with them signing guys I don't like if they're going to help the team win.

Agreed. Ive seen numerous suggestions (not as much here) that McLouths drop off, may be due to his stoppage of using peds.

Your right. However, it wouldn't shock me if Adam Jones, Nick Markakis, Matt Wieters, Mark Reynolds, J J Hardy, or any Oriole at one time or uses peds. Its part of the game. Not saying its right, but id say ped usage is more rampant then mlb would admit now.

I would not watch the Orioles in 2013 and I'm not joking. I will not root for roiders and if we were to sign him I'd lose all respect for Duquette. Thankfully I'm 99.9% positive Buck and Duquette want absolutely nothing to do with Cabrera.

Just curious, will you watch if Brian Roberts is the starting 2b?

Roberts messed up no doubt, but he didn't deny it and he said he was sorry. Americans love people who are contrite, or at least play the part. Roberts has been a pretty good citizen since then so I have no problem with him. He isn't M Ramirez.

Please. Cabrera did the same think Ryan Braun did, his team of agents and managers just weren't as good at casting doubt as Braun's team. Guys try to get an advantage and if they get caught they avoid taking responsibility for it until they absolutely have to. Melky Cabrera is a fine citizen, their situation is identical, except that Cabrera was caught and actually punished. He served his suspension, he shouldn't be black-balled. Brian Roberts acted in his own self interest, denial would be no good as it would linger, better to just claim to have tried it once and then apologize.

Arod said he was sorry too, after he got caught. It just bugs me, that some guys get a free pass (Roberts), because there nice guys. And others get slammed, because there jerks. They all got caught doing the same thing, and they all knew it was cheating. I understand your sentiment, and im not saying your opinion is wrong, so please dont take my response as an attack on you.

The same thing??? How is Braun and Cabrera denying what they did and getting away with it the same thing? How about Clemens? Or Bonds? Give me a break. Did McGwire own up to it right away? They didn't have evidence but everyone knew he did it. There are some guys that cop to it, ARod included. And he is a jerk, but that's separate. Roberts has done great work in Baltimore that's no secret. I wasn't happy about what he did, but I think he's acquitted himself well. I think it speaks volumes that the Giants didn't have Cabrera on the WS roster when they could have.

Another thing, I never said anyone should be BB. The sentence should be more severe so these guys think twice before doing it. Colon was happy to collect his salary and be on his way. Does anyone believe he wasn't doing the same thing when he was playing for the Yankees?

    • I have no problem with the Tigers saying they want the moon and the stars.  Its a negotiating position.  The  Tigers GM and Ownership have to know that no trade has ever happen for a pitcher that is as aggressive that they are asking for.  They don't have to trade Skubal so the O's have to motive the Tigers with what that offer could be. The O's offense is #1 in baseball in Homers, Slugging and Runs per game.    They are first in the AL in OPS.  The O's don't what to damage that.  They are 11th in Average and 15th OBP.  They want to improve that. The need to keep: 1) Holliday because he will bring the high average and OBP the O's need In the future. 2) Basallo.  It's hard to find catchers that can hit and control the running game.  Him first teaming with Adley and a some point replacing Adley is a game changer. 3) Kjerstad is needed to replace Santander unless, unless, unless the O's are willing to extend him for 4/68m.   Which way will Elias and Rubinstein go with that? ------ Mayo with his incredible talent is someone that can head up a package.   Mayo is BA #25 prospect in 2024.  O's #3 prospect. (O's prospect by MLB.com) Bradfield BA #82 prospect in 2024; #4 O's prospect  and Norby BA #93 prospect,  #5 Os prospect with a 911 OPS at AAA  currently are two players the Tigers could pick between. McDermott #7 O's prospect; Povich O's #8 prospect:  and Johnson O's #9 prospect are three future starter that  Tigers could pick between. Elias could add one or two more prospects to this list.
    • Dodgers and O's have discussed trade talks for Skubal per MLBTR. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/07/orioles-dodgers-have-discussed-tarik-skubal-with-tigers.html
    • Are we playing the Blue Jays soon
    • He was scratched due to neck problems
    • I am guessing Urias could have come in and played, which means he is still on the team.  If not you would have to do Rutchman C (Mullins out of the game, pitcher at DH)... Then who knows, maybe Santander at 2B? Or put Cionel Perez there (he seems like an athletic guy)?  I have to think Urias was available in a pinch.
    • Huh??? We didn’t sign Corbin Burnes in the offseason. We traded Joey Ortiz, DL Hall and a draft pick for him. Tyler Wells is out until late next year after having Tommy John surgery. For the next 15 years??? Huh? You get 6 full years of team control with any player. My
