Where would you like to see the Marlins moved?

Loria sells the team. They go back to Montreal and call themselves the Expos. They get a new stadium.

Call Tampa the Florida Rays, and put them in Miami. Switch the Expos and Rays so that Toronto and Montreal can be in the same division. I think that would be cool. Create a bit of a Canadian rivalry, something to spark interest up there.

Probably wouldn't work out because of Tampa's lease in the Trop, and the obvious problem in switching the Florida teams around.

What about Oklahoma City? They've had great success with the Thunder since they've been moved there. Granted, the fact that the Thunder have been an excellent team has certainly helped...

Brooklyn would be a good option as well. Maybe some of the Yankees fans will jump on THAT bandwagon! ;)

Oklahoma City would be the smallest media market in MLB. Cincy and Milwaukee are both in the mid-30s in Nielsen rankings, Oklahoma City is 44th and on par with Albuquerque and Norfolk. There are 18 non-MLB markets ahead of Oklahoma City.

Relocating the Marlins is so far removed from the realm of possibility with the opening of the new stadium that it's ridiculous to even contemplate it.

The problem with the organization is Jeffrey Loria and the current front office. If Selig wants to penalize or try to solve the "problem" in Miami, the solution would not be relocation. He would try to force Loria to sell out of the best interests of baseball.

Maybe they could just do like Loria and Selig did with the Expos - an active campaign to sabatoge the market. They could start selling off home games to the highest bidder (San Juan!). They could refuse to have an English-language radio affiliate. As for the stadium... they could reconfigure it into some kind of baseball abomination, with unplayable dimensions, on the pretext of zoning or Native American lands or endangered species or something.

The most reasonable solution would be to dump Loria, force him out. But he has some kind of magnetic pull on Selig, something deep and disturbing. Starting way back with the orchestrated destruction of the Expos, and on to the bizarre Expos/Marlins/Red Sox franchise swaps. I have a feeling he's not going anywhere, and Bud will sign on off on anything he wants to do.

Yeah, I could see selling them to the Mexican leagues. Good idea.

If Juarez wasn't a drug infested war zone it would be an ideal candidate for the MLB team.

Otherwise I'm going to agree Brooklyn is the best choice followed closely by northern Jersey.

Or we get real crazy, contract the Marlins and move Tampa to Orlando. Beat the NFL to the punch. (referring the rumor about Jacksonville moving to LA and the Bucs moving to Orlando)

I just came from the Nashville area. Seems like they could use a MLB team.

Nashville's sports spending is already spread thin between the Titans and Predators. I don't think there's enough support for an 81-game season in addition to the other professional teams.
