Especially when you factor in they got him at 2011-2012 free agent prices as opposed to what it would cost then.

Good deal for both sides. Longoria is quite cheap at that price so long as he stays healthy, but the risk of injury is now entirely on the team.

Does he have a no trade clause? If not, the Rays could always 'pull a Loria' and unload him........not that they have really shown any history of that kind of behavior.

The Rays ownership isn't like the Marlins IMO. They actually do care about baseball in Florida.
