Ozzie's Auction

I read about this several months ago and I seem to recall Ozzie saying he was selling now rather than waiting for his kids to do it. Not sure about the rationale; I don't think he needs the money.

The auction closes in a few days. It includes all Ozzie's All Star rings and World Series rings, including those presented to him by the Cards for the 2004, 2006, and 2011 series. Bids for those exceed $20K; AS rings are going a lot cheaper and some haven't received the minimum bid.

Ozzie's career set of 13 consecutive NL gold gloves brought $519,203. Wow!

Two items which apparently weren't included in the auction were his 1982 World Series Championship ring and his 1987 NL Championship ring. He did auction off his 1985 NL Championship ring ($37,610) and the World Championship rings from the 2006 ($42,448) and 2011 ($51,364) World Series which were provided to some former Cardinals players.

Also among the lots sold was Ozzie's personal copy of a Brooks Robinson statue, for $2,886.
