Spending $4.5 mm for Koji would be a waste of money for us, considering the current makeup of our bullpen. The guy is terrific, and worth $4.5 mm to a team with huge holes in the back end of their bullpen. But that's not the Orioles.

We have holes, Ayala, Strop and Hunter to name a few. Their adequate at best. Koji's a difference maker and he can pitch middle or late relief. JJ, O'Day and Koji would have been outstanding, but the Orioles put money ahead of wins here. NYY and BOS spend money to make money, we could also, if ownership wasn't short sighted. Am I overreacting, probably, but I am flat out angry that he will pitch for BOS and potentially shut us down 18 games a year.

That's fWAR, rWAR is generally higher for RP's (1.5 Koji and 2.4 Strop). Aso Koji accomplished his in 36 innings versus Strop's 66 innings. Pretty big difference.

Koji made a big mistake. He doesn't pitch well in cool/cold weather. He needs warm weather. I'ts cooler in Boston in the summer than it is in Baltimore.
