Orioles have talked to Tigers about Porcello...

Porcello 2012

ERA 4.59 FIP 3.91 xFIP 3.89 SIERA 4.00 babip .344

Really bad luck(.344 babip) and his team's god awful infield defense make him look so much worse than he is. His FIP, xFIP and SIERA have also improved every single year he's been in the majors.

I just wanted to say that I give huge, huge props to anyone whose screenname is a molecule.

He's not a good pitcher. Last year opponents had an .808 OPS against him. That's terrible. He's never had an opponent OPS under .738. All of our young pitchers except maybe Matusz are better than him. I'll take him for cheap but don't trade anyone away.

Inflated by terrible defense.

The Orioles have a couple Porcellos. Matusz, Arrieta, Britton, Tillman.

I'll take another

I've never been much of a fan of pitchers that don't "miss bats," but if we can land him for a bullpen arm it might be worth taking a flier.

He has given up more hits every season then he did the past since he joined the majors, and his WHIP has gone up every single year. Seems like a guy the league is getting used to.

He put up a 1.13 GB/FB ratio last year, with a crappy infield defense behind him. That GB/FB ratio would help him a lot in Baltimore with our solid IF defense, for sure. He posted a 3.9 FIP/xFIP last year. He'll give up the occasional homer, but I think he'd improve with a good defense behind him, like our's.

I like him as a fallback option, but I'd rather just sign somone like Saunders or Marcum then trade for Porcello.

Porcello will be less expensive (pending what would be required for him in a trade). He's about to turn 24, and has 3 years of Arbitration and service time remaining. He's a guy that hasn't peaked yet, and will be on the team for a few years.
