So Schoop just crushed a 3-run homer to put the Netherlands up 5-1 over Cuba in the 6th inning. I know I'm getting WAY ahead of myself (hey I'm excited!) but IF the Netherlands holds on here and Wang comes up with a gem against Japan, then Cuba and Japan would be squaring off in an elimination game next.

Wow the Netherlands beat another world baseball power in Cuba. They eliminated the DR last tournament. Very excited about baseball in the Netherlands...I wish I could've stayed up for that game.

That Japan/Taipei game was a classic. Have to admit I found myself rooting for Taipei just to set up an elimination game between Cuba and Japan. However, Taipei might could pull an upset against Cuba. Winner of Netherlands/Japan moves on to San Francisco. I'll be rooting for Schoop and the Netherlands to pull off another upset against Japan but in any event I am really enjoying the games that I'm finding time to watch parts of.

Italy is leading Canada 6-2 in the 6th. After beating Mexico yesterday Italy could be off to a 2-0 start! A big surprise!

I am pulling for the Netherlands...their upset over the DR (twice) last time really made me pull for them. Having Schoop on the team doesn't hurt.

I will be pulling for the USA. In the past they had too many Yankees...now I want the US to show the world who's boss.

It is because baseball isnt a good sport for this kind of tournament. Soccer or tennis yeah. But baseball that goes seven games for a World Series? This is just really an exhibition type game.

And why dont better players want to go?

It's still unacceptable. Yeah a lot of players don't participate but they still have a stacked lineup and the Cy Young winner. They should win.

I'm up to watch the Cuba-Chinese Taipei elimination game. Sucks that this could be the last time until 2017 that we see these Cuban players play. There is some legit MLB talent on their roster.
