Took the Louisville Slugger factory tour, saw Adam Jones' bats!

We took a weekend trip to Louisville this past weekend and we decided to head over the Louisville Slugger factory to do their tour. It was awesome to see first hand how everything is made. One of the coolest moments was a 4ft tall shelf with ~12 cubbies labeled with various players. Inside each cubby was the players' preferred bat material (weight, type of wood, etc). I was pretty angry at first glance when I didn't see a single Oriole player but lo and behold, the very last cubby at the bottom right was ADAM JONES. Very cool to see. For whatever reason, his cubby was literally packed with "billets" (the cylinders that the bats are carved from), moreso than any other player. I would have snapped a picture but no cameras allowed in the factory.

Also, there's a museum section that had a ton of stuff to do. One of the exhibits was the chance to hold an actual game bat used by one of six players, one of which was Cal Ripken Jr!

If you're in Louisville, definitely head to the factory. It may seem "touristy" but if you love baseball, it's well worth it. Tour was $11 but you get a free mini-bat at the end. :thumbsup1:

Nice, I'll definitely hit it up if I ever end up in Louisville.

Hey, you're in the neighboring state. About 5 hours away, though. Maybe you'll see the AAA-Tides against the Red Bats while you're there, too. :)
