I'm hesitant to drop UVA out yet. They lost to a good NCSU team, and I think their overall profile is better than the last 3 out. However, those 3 all have opportunities to play themselves into the tourney today. Ole Miss has the best shot (Vandy). Alabama has no impressive wins on their resume, so they have to beat Florida. Maryland needs to beat NCSU, though I could still see them getting in with a loss (if it's close) if Ole Miss loses. They could also jump LaSalle. Southern Miss just has to win C-USA tourney. There's really no at large bid for them.

People need to stop calling the Mountain West a "Mid-Major" conference and just assuming the teams aren't good. You can make a pretty decent case that the Mountain West was the third best league in the country this year behind the Big Ten and the Big East.

New Mexico could be a 2 seed and Colorado State, UNLV and San Diego State will all easily make it and be solid seeds. Boise State is right on the bubble, and should make it IMO.

I'm a UVA fan, and we have no business making it. Just so many awful losses, and no performance at all outside of Charlottesville besides the totally weird win in Madison back in November.

Ole Miss probably got in by beating Missouri tonight. I think Maryland will make it if they beat UNC tomorrow, solely by how many losses these other teams have had this week.

I'm a big proponent of Middle Tennessee State, that's a good basketball team, I hope they get a bid.

MWC is definitely not a mid major, but their not as good as the Big 12 or ACC, IMO.

New Mexico seems a bit overrated as a #2. Compare that to the best team the other 2 conferences (Duke and Kansas) The second best (Colorado St vs. Miami & Kansas St.) Third best (UNLV vs. Oklahoma St & UNC). The best thing the MWC has going for it is the lack of dead weight the other two have, especially the ACC. Nevada, Fresno and Wyoming (who was good before they lost their best player) are the only bad teams in the MWC.

I agree about MTSU. Really good BPI and KenPom rankings. Ran off a lot of wins in a row. With all the bubble teams crapping the bed, they should get in.

I'm presuming that Memphis State (29-4), and Southern Miss (25-8) are both in, and that no other teams in their conference will get an at-large bid, so they did the bubble teams throughout the country a favor by both making it to their conference championship game.

I'm still pretty sure that they won't make it as the 5th team from that conference with a 21-10 record, and losing in the first round of their tournament.

They'll be praying for San Diego State to lose to New Mexico tonight.

I hate to gang up on you OFFNY but this is why I hate the term mid major. The mountain west was ranked the #1 conference in NCAA this year just beating out the Big Ten (RPI rankings). I'm not claiming the MWC to be the best in all of the land but that doesn't mean it's not of the top conferences in the country. If the MWC was called the SEC everyone would be talking about them. They're going to get 4 teams in and maybe 5. Boise state will be sweating it out next Sunday for sure.

I'll bet you a dollar that Boise State doesn't make it, based largely on what I said.

If I lose, I'll send you a PM and a check in the mail.

    • If any combination of Irvin, Flaherty, Fuji, Baumann with the locks of Gibson, Webb, Wells, Hall, Coulombe, Cano, Perez are all in the bullpen im not sure we need 13 pitchers.    Is 3 long men really needed(Gibson/Irvin/Flaherty) with days off? Hall/Wells can go more than 1. No doubt Kremer would be the one who could turn it up out of the BP opposed to Gibson BUT if Kremer can give you a start of 5 good innings as a 4th starter thats hard to pass on. -- Hyde wants to play matchups like crazy of late so i do think they'll take 13. O's love close games, old extra inning rules could be a factor in need for more length.
    • Mullins too.  Seems like only Adley has been fairly hot lately.  Hopefully Mountcastle's double tonight will get things going for everyone else.  Fingers crossed the several days off they'll get next week will help reenergize things.
    • I got through the gate at 5, was in line 4:45ish? And got a hoodie. It was pretty packed. Think some people just went for the hoodie though and then left early.    it was a different vibe at the ballpark, totally full, but people were just chilling and having fun, not really paying attention to the game, since the game itself didn’t mean much
    • Happy that the Mariners are done.
    • Bradish game 1 starter, Rodrigues game 2, Gibson game 3, Means game 4, all on short leashes with Kremer, Wells, Baumann, Webb, Hall, Coulombe, Cano and Perez in the pen....Henderson, Rutschman, Santander, Mountcastle, O'Hearn, Hays, Mullins, Westburg, Urias, Frazier, Hicks, McKenna, Mateo, McCann
    • I can see why people would say a WS win would solidify him as an elite GM but as pointed out the playoffs are a crap shoot. Elias isn’t at fault if the pitching craps the bed or if the bats go cold.    He already is elite. He’s stocked this franchise with more good young talent than we could have hoped. As long as the Orioles keep making the playoffs and as long as he keeps good talent coming through the system that’s what he’ll be judged on. In addition to being at the vanguard of how to pick up guys like O’Hearn, etc., that’s important too.
    • Gibson starts game 3 on the road and Means starts game 4 with Kremer in the pen as the longman with Means and Gibson on very short leashes...
