Mitchell Report

Hello All,

I have tickets to see former Senate Majority Leader speak at my school next Monday. Besides his successful political career, he is also known as the one who lead the investigation of performance enhancing drugs in the MLB aka "The Mitchell Report". There is going to be a Q&A session afterwards and I was wondering if any of the OH had a good idea of potential questions I can volunteer to ask him.

I am already thinking about asking him his feeling and reasoning on including players that had substantially small amounts of evidence against them in the report (namely BRob). However, I want to know if you guys have any ideas as to what a good question would be to ask him.

Ask him about the suspicious lack of Red Sox and Brewer players in the report. (No Sox players was found to be using during their tenure with the Sox.)

Be sure to phrase it politely, otherwise he will act offended and not answer it.

I definitely will. To be honest, I think it was right what he had done. I think it was there to illustrate a culture as to how many actually were involved. I just want to know what he thinks about some of the media's critiques on it

Since you asked, my question would be:Senator, we as country are 16 trillion dollars in debt and counting. Could you please tell me how in the hell and when exactly will we be paying this bill or are we going to just screw our kids and leave the mess for them. But make sure you thank him so that he doesn't feel bad. ( Successful political career my ass! )

I didn't write it in because I thought it was implied, but I would rather have you guys come up with questions in regards to his work on the Mitchell Report. I wasn't looking for snarky political opinionated questions.

No. Of course not. That was uncalled for.

I apologize. But so you know, it is fact not political opinion. Again , am sorry.

Board rules man, no political arguments/debates/discussions.

They aren't challenging your statement, they're simply trying to steer the conversation back towards its original intent before it gets completely side-tracked and someone ends up being reprimanded.

To add to the earlier comment about no Red Sox or Brewers, I also don't recall any Yankees being popped while donning the pinstripes. A-rod was while he was with Texas, Giambi wasn't caught while on the Yanks, neither were Melky Cabrerra or the obvious one to me: Bartolo Colon. I remember reading that people were accusing Colon using a banned substance to rehab after his surgery while on the Yankees, even with an accusation like that, he still didn't test positive while on the Yankees (was he ever tested while on the Yankees?) What completely didn't surprise me was when his test came up positive while on the A's last year.

New Yahoo Report: Report: MLB coming after players connected to Biogenesis clinic ? Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun in sights

On the heels of yesterday's 100-game suspension for minor leaguer Cesar Carrillo comes word that Major League Baseball is prepared to hunker down and come hard after every player connected to the Dr. Anthony Bosch and the Biogenensis clinic in Florida. According to ESPN's T.J. Quinn, that definitely includes Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun, who he says are "strongly in their sights".

As noted yesterday, it will be more difficult for MLB to pin down players such as Rodriguez and Braun for a number of reasons. Chief among them being their protection from the MLBPA, not to mention their personal representation and the overall wealth the game has afforded them.

... Still, MLB seems determined to make every effort they can to discipline both men for their connections to the alleged distributor of PEDs. And in the case of Braun, who actually escaped punishment last winter after challenging the chain of custody of his positive sample, they may really be determined to even the score. Not to suggest they're targeting one player involved more than the other, but I'm sure that's a bad taste in their mouth they can't wait to wash out.

As for the Carrillo suspension that was announced on Friday, Quinn has some new information on that as well.

According to his findings, Carrillo was actually suspended for two different violations. The first for his name being included in Biogenesis. The second for lying to MLB about knowing Dr. Bosch. So that pretty much confirms much of the speculation yesterday about Carrillo's lack of cooperation playing into the decision.

@TJQuinnESPN

Carrillo, a minor leaguer, not protected by union, so MLB came down hard. Put strong pressure on him to cooperate, but he didn't.

It would tickle me to see Braun, the bald-faced liar, get his comeuppance, but I don't expect it to happen.

    • I'll be surprised if it's not that trio with either Kremer or Gibson as the 4th starter if the Orioles need one during the playoffs. It's terrible Means was gone for nearly 1.5 years, but the plus side is his arm should be fresh.
    • If the Orioles can't get a good return and Norby doesn't win a job next spring, the odds may go up that he takes over in left in 2025 if the Orioles aren't going to pay both Hays and Mullins, or maybe neither.
    • 4 Ks and missed 6 bats. I missed the game tonight and it looks like he pitched well and he is certainly 3rd in the pecking order right now (which speaks to the staff more than anything) but I don’t have confidence in him vs top offenses if he can’t miss bats and strike guys out.
    • I think Kremer will be in the pen for the playoffs.   I think he can be a weapon out of the bullpen for us this year. Next year I imagine he will pitch in the rotation and continue to improve.  I see this guy pitching in MLB for a long time.  He has the drive and desire to be great.  He improves and adapts as he goes along.     I think they need to try and add and impact starter in the off-seasons and push competition.  I’d like to see two impact relief arms as well.     I’m not in the “the sky is falling” camp right now, but the last few weeks have shown the importance of high quality depth.  You can’t have too much talent.
    • I bought tickets from the Birdland members presale. My wife and I have a 13-game plan. When it said you could only buy one set of tickets per series, I assumed that meant one pair for the Wild Card Series, one for the ALDS, and one for the ALCS. But I'm seeing people online say that they bought tickets for two games in the ALDS and one for the ALCS. I didn't realize that I could distribute my three games any way I wanted. Now I'm annoyed that I wasted tickets on two series that might not happen at all.
    • The Orioles have one more loss at home than on the road. So I would say about the same. The Rays on the other hand are .663 at home (53-27) vs. .553 on the road (42-34). The Orioles have Bradish and GRod going against the Nationals, at home, after a day off. They should win those games. If they win tomorrow, too, the deed would be nearly done by Wed. Winning tomorrow is not essential, they would be still in good shape with a loss. But it would help to avoid going deep into the week to resolve this.
