Steve Johnson Today, 2013

I would hope they are saving the Roberts move for the right time. Hard to imagine Jurrjens and Garcia in the rotation at the same time.

Yeah. Stevie Boy has been gradually building up his stamina in his 3 AAA starts so far this season.

In his second start, he threw 5 shutout innings before running into trouble in the 6th.

In his 3rd (and latest) start, he went 5.67 innings again, giving up 2 runs.

He will fit in well with the rest of the O's starters not going 7inn.

To be honest, I think he could have used another start, but the clock was ticking...go Steve!

I think so, too.

I'm generally conservative when it comes to promoting young pitchers (Advanced-A to AA, AA to AAA, AAA to the majors), particularly when they seem to be just coming into their own in the place that they are currently at, as Johnson seemed to be doing at AAA-Norfolk.

Oh, well. We'll see what happens.

With the two off-days coming up Monday and Thursday no matter how well he pitches it might be for one start anyway.

He may be, but I would still rather have him pitch at least 2 or 3 more times at AAA before bringing him up to the Orioles, even if it's only for 1 game.

As Play Baltimore stated though, sometimes you have needs for the major league club that don't necessarily coincide with what is ideal for the pitcher. And that is where we are at right now. We need a pitcher to start a game on Saturday, and Johnson is the hit man that is available.

I'm not afraid to admit I have low expectations for Johnson. At least I won't be easily disappointed.

But why? He has done nothing but excel in the Major's, in the most tense situations. I think there is just something with him, something that compels him to be better than he should be....I am hoping for a great start on Saturday, because losing 2 out of 3 is unacceptable for these 2013 O's. :) Man, I love being able to semi seriously say that.

Yeah, heredity.
