I disagree, I think it's operating at about 75% participation, it was extremely noticeable during the playoffs. It's one thing in a college setting. It's another when you're trying to promote a family friendly experience, and I don't even have kids.

Well I certainly don't get to as many games as I'd like, but at the ones I've been to it's nowhere near 75%. Maybe - maybe - 75% say the "Hey" part. But not everyone that says "Hey" also says "you suck", in fact I would say most don't.

Watching on TV or listening on radio, I hear "Hey - garble garble".

I could see it being higher during the playoffs against the Yankees. Shoot, I'd probably participate in it myself then. I was at the 2nd playoff game but honestly don't remember if they played it.

Any "You Suck" chants are classless. That kind of fits in a college environment (except when the band played it at M&T bank stadium when the Plebes came out) but not in a professional stadium environment. I think the Os' should stop playing it as well. As for the Seven Nation Army chant, I'd rather that stay just with the Ravens. More of a football thing for me.

Love Gary Glitter at Oriole games

Hate the "You suck!" chant.

I wish there was a way to preserve the great tradition of playing it after homers but it seems like the only way to get rid of the classless "HEY!!! YOU SUCK!!" is to get rid of Rock n Roll pt 2 altogether. Quite depressing...

I think the Seven Nation Army thing has become stale as well, but at least its something the fans start on their own without being asked by the scoreboard. Its kinda, and I stress kind of, cool to hear the fans start the chant, and THEN the PR people play the beat afterwards.

I like the hey hey song. While I am not much on telling people they suck, I like the song.

Da da da da da da....TEX, YOU SUCK! <----I'm telling ya, this could really catch on!

I fully support a "Tex, you suck" chant! :D

Well getting rid of Rock n Roll part 2 is a great idea and most teams have.

While we are piling on the stadium fan experience can I put a vote out for banning the charge chant when there are two outs in the 8th, with two strikes and no one on, with the Os down by 4+ runs. I know someone is just trying to liven up the crowd, but let's reserve that for a close game with men on base. You know, when the hitters need to feel the crowd support.

I agree with not yelling " you suck" to the opposing team too.

Have we forgotten our heritage? We are spawn of the Concrete Lady. The World's Largest Outdoor Insane Asylum. And if you've been to a game with Scottiebaseball, you know he has not forgotten.

I do think Gary Glitter is just awful though. And I leave the chant to the youngsters.

Same here. I also think the 7 Nation Army chant is stupid.
Though Jack White is awesome.
I do agree with this.
BECAUSE Jack White is awesome.

Jack White's entire body of work is amazing. Best musician of the early 21st century for my money.

The message coming from my eyes it says leave it alone

Don't want to hear about it, every single one's got a story to tell.

And if I catch ya commin back my way

I'm gonna serve it to you

And that ain't what you want to hear

But that's what I'll do

And the feelin' commin from my bones

I have a kid but really we need to not worry so much about shocking their little souls. They are tougher than we know and they enjoy a little ribbing also.

But you agree that it is ok to yell that at Teixeiria? :)

We may need to try Jack when Hank needs a break. In the game threads. Jack is the far superior musician. And an equally strange dude.

    • Was it the same person who said this team was dead?
    • I’m dead serious. That’s one regular (who starter last week) and it was to be expected that he would struggle like almost all young guys do when they make the jump to the Majors.  Hays doesn’t play everyday and was just playing yesterday to give Santander a rest. Yes Santander is struggling, so by my count that makes 2 guys struggling who are getting everyday ABs. And even if you go by the TWO that played yesterday, I have a hard time coming up with a figure that adds up to several.  Unless, your math or understanding of the English language is different than mine. I don’t see TWO as equating to several guys, as you stated.
    • Someone said the other day he’s just another guy and should be cut.
    • Outside of Cowser, he’s the biggest surprise of the season so far for me.
    • It’s interesting to compare the careers of McFarland and Danny Coulombe.  TJ debuted in 2013 and is 35; Danny debuted in 2014 and is 34.   TJ has appeared in 362 big league games, throwing 480.1 innings at a 4.16 ERA (101 ERA+), and has been worth -0.1 rWAR; Danny has appeared in 262 games, throwing 250.1 IP aa 3.63 ERA (114 ERA+) and has been worth  3.1 rWAR.   Going into this season, TJ had accrued 8.028 years of service and had been paid $10.5 mm; Danny had accrued 5.008 years and had been paid $5.2 mm.  So I’d say at this point that McFatland has spent more time and bern used more heavily in the majors than Coulombe, and has been better paid, even though Coulombe has been more effective.
    • I remember him from his time with the Braves when I was in Atlanta. This is from the 'Rick Camp Game' in 85.
    • I don’t think his lack of command in the early going is going to be fixed by changing roles.  Irvin typically has very good command.  He didn’t at the beginning of last year, but recovered it after a stint in the minors.  This year he’s having early problems again, but I think the reasons may be different.  He’s gained velocity and he’s added a new pitch that moves well but he hadn’t quite figured out how to command.  So, I don’t know if he’ll figure it out or not.  If he does, he could emerge a better pitcher than at any previous time in his career. In any event, he will get at least two more starts before Means is ready to return.   Hopefully he’ll make some progress, but he’s likely to find himself in the bullpen when Means returns regardless.
