In the last four games, Adam has done that flail swing at least once. He is in cool off mode when he starts chasing. When he is hot, he sees that better and doesn't swing. He just sometimes finds it hard to understand that he is very seldom going to see a strike in those situations.

Agreed.

The one encouraging thing is that he seems to lay off it less and less each year. Maybe one day he'll lay off it completely but not this year.

Yea, he may be getting excited with how Maurer has started off this game. Sometimes it can be quite a cliche, but I believe that Adam really is a guy that needs to remember just to play within himself. When he is just playing ball and going about his business, he can be one of the most dangerous hitters in the game. When he tries to kill it and go above and beyond, i feel like he gets himself in trouble by swinging at pitches he shouldnt.
