Really? Your worried about them paying for his flight lol ...... If you spend 40 million on a guy I hardly think calling 750$ on a plan ticket to Dallas is much of a concern or loss

Truth be told fans hate baseball players and the lavish money/lifestyle that they are afforded for playing a game while we work 40+ hours a week to make as much in a lifetime as some do in couple months as a MLB player (ARod etc). We just simply repress that hatred because we love the game and love the team that plays the game we love for us. So long as they produce we love em. Soon as they can't, or do something that makes it acceptable to unleash that pent up rage ...we do so. Thus the anger at BRob and the overly dramatic reaction to bubblegate

I am sure it would be more than 750. Brian probably wants to fly first class and then be put up in some fancy hotel. Brian will contribute nothing to the team in the future so it is a waste of money. It is throwing money away.

And you learn in economics 101 that the fact that you paid him 40 million in the past should not effect your decision on whether to pay his airfare to see a doctor in Dallas. I don't hate their lifestyle. I just think if he is going to get 40 million he shouldn't be hanging out at his house in sarasota and taking it easy. He is no Suggs. If he were Suggs he would already be back on the field.

I'm just going to say you are WAY out of line and leave it at that!

Players talk. And if the Orioles told one of their highest paid players they won't pick up the tab to send him to a doctor, we'd start reverting to the reputation we're still trying so hard to shed. It's also a very nitpicky thing to latch on to as a gripe. Some might say that your employer shouldn't pay you for the time you are posting on sports message board during business hours. Are you going to pay them back for this time? (please don't say "actually I'm a student and I'm writing this from economics 101") This is way over-reaching.

You also learn in economics 101 that you have to fulfill the letter of contracts and labor agreements lol and cant decide your not going to just cause your not happy with the way it worked out.

BRob's injury happened on the field as a member of the O's. Beside the fact the MLBPA would go crazy if the O's pulled a low class move like that (making him pay his way to Dallas) it would also send exactly the opposite message you want to the guys on this team now or potential FA we may have interest in later. Its call the cost of doing business...again another economics 101 concept

Sorry I get being frustrated, I get slamming the fact the dude is getting paid and not producing. I don't get advocating that the franchise act differently towards Brian than they would any other guy who gets injured simply cause they upset they got very little production for their money. That is how baseball and contracts work...there is risk

Can he just retire... please

Brian if you are feeling guilty for stealing 40 million dollars.... give generously to your favorite charity!!!

Now Roberts is stealing? Goodness you are unbelievable. Didnt he sign a contract the O's offered? Don't the O's have insurance for injured players?

You know what's funny with you and I? I have never met you in person (not until May 18th that is) but yet I truly feel you're like a brother to me, in that we can bash each other and nearly troll each other, but it's all good and doesn't irritate me at all.

Hope you feel the same way, cause its all in fun with you! My intentions are not to be confrontational!

I have enjoyed games with both of you. And stood in line for hours with you both. And I think that you two would make great brothers.

Well actually I think I would really have trouble accepting 40 million dollars for no ouput considering:

1. PED's abuse aided in creating performance that led to contract.

2. Concussion which caused lost time was self induced.

I'm not sure how much this bothers Brian, but I'd like to think there are honorable people (maybe me) that would return a large portion of his contract to a good cause. I mean he has done nothing for 4 years and 40 million dollars... even Albert Belle provided some value.

Are you that honorable? Is anyone? Sorry but I don't see him stealing.

I'd take the money. But I bet I would do something about giving back to the fan base in a meaningful monetary way. In fact, I might offer to Buck and Dan, that if they wanted to hire a replacement for the stretch, that I'd cover the cost. but that's just me.

What difference does that make?

He is one of those folks ( the poster) who believes that Brian is taking advantage of his time with his family while rehabbing. He obviously wants to extract some punishment. I don't think he feels that it would actually help him get back quicker or in a productive way. When Nick married and started his family and his production dropped and he showed up at Fanfest like the guy from the DR Pepper Ten commercial talking about his offseason hunting, there were some of us who thought his hunger for on field success had waned. I was occasionally one of those guys how chipped about some of that. I was wrong. I think that Brian's physical decline was in many ways agrivated by his own actions. But none of us ever complained when his PED use was making him a player worthy of a 4/40 contract.

Your 'stealing" statement was both uncalled for and repugnant. Do you honestly believe that Roberts purposely herniated a disc in his back, purposely concussed himself, and purposely tore a tendon in his knee, just so he could collect on a contract without having to play? Injuries are part of the game and teams know this when they gamble on long-term contracts with players.
