Is Chen injured?

I'd say call up Jurrjens, use Hammel/Tillman/Garcia/Jurrjens/Gonzalez until Wada is ready, then Wada replaces whoever is the weakest performer out of Jurrjens/Garcia.

Good thing the offense is hot lately, and good thing we have those two off days this week so we have more freedom in waiting for Gonzalez to return next weekend.

This is what id do as well.

And on the bright side, if we can just play .500 ball while Chen is out, it will keep us in contention and then once Chen's back, his total innings will be down and should be fresh for a stretch run.

Chen fresh for the stretch/potential playoff run isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as one of Wada, Jurrjens or potentially Gausman can step up

Looks like the two-off-day week couldn't have come at a better time. Maybe Chen doesn't even need to go on the DL.

If he does...Arietta has outpitched Jurrjens at AAA, hasn't he? Tillman appeared to be dead as a prospect around this time last year, but he came back midseason and has since established himself as a solid starter. Maybe Arietta can be this year's Tillman.

I don't think Jake will be the "next" Tillman. I also don't believe he has out pitched Jurrjens at AAA. Jurrjens has played solid down at Norfolk and deserves the chance to play a million times over Jake. Remember, Jurrjens was at one point in his career a great pitcher prior to injury. Arrieta has never been a good pitcher. My thoughts.

Arrieta was scratched from his start with some shoulder stiffness so I doubt he is the option right now. It will most likely be Jurrijens if we need a starter. Wada sounds like he will be ready by June 1st so that means we would need just a starter for two starts. I think Jurrijens is the best option. Gonzo believes he could pitch now if need be so he will be ready next scheduled start. We will need a starter the 21st and 26th. Wada can start the 16th the 21 and the 26th and then be on normal rest if it Chen needs a stint on dl.

Wada can not come off DL until early June.

6.1 Ip, 5 H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 6K

gets the win to improve to 3-4

I didn't want DD to sign Saunders, I thought the plan was to sign someone better than Saunders.... but when it became clear that wasn't going to happen I thought it was a no brainer to sign Saunders for depth.

He's been absolutely terrible outside of Safeco and last I looked we don't play too many games there. Like Reynolds, I was 50/50 on Saunders. You don't spend 6M for depth if you are the O's.

I like Joe. One question. Was it in Seattle?

Incorrect. Wada went on the 15-day DL retroactive to March 22nd (link). That means he could come off the 60-day DL on May 21st.

I have been trying to find it for about an hour. But isn't the 60 day only available during the season?
