Some angry fans won't be happy unless they get the bloody carcass of the offender thrown to them so they can tear the flesh from his bones. I can't help remembering that it's only a game. I guess I'm not a true fan.

Managers who rip their players in public lose the clubhouse, followed by their job. Look at Billy Martin for an example. Everyone knows this, including the interviewer. But the

question has to be asked, even if everyone knows you're going to get a lame answer. At least it's material they can publish.

But you'd better believe that if JJ's performance actually becomes an issue (and it's not right now) - then Buck will privately take action to correct it.

As I've said multiple times, there is a huge difference between "ripping someone in public" and simply stating the truth in a professional, dignified way and then just say "were moving on with jim as our closer".

Buck making the good pitches statement was more embarrassing than anything else because he's having to lie to the public through the media. Johnson knows he sucked, buck covering for him in the media doesn't change anything so why do it?

Again, he didnt need to "rip him", there is plenty of middle ground between the truth (he sucked) and coming out and flat out bs'ing about how he pitched.

Regardless, Johnson is our closer and he's an O through and through so since that's the case, we will all support him no matter what role he is in. To suggest some fans are doing otherwise and "want his carcass" is so overly dramatic and drama-queenish it barely warrants a response.
