These guys need to be behind bars for several years. And where were the ushers in all this? They bother fans over small stuff, then don't interefere when guys are throwing things all game long and then throw a full beer?

Exactly what I was wondering. That sounds ridiculous.

I would think that once the beer was thrown, things got out of hand quickly. There is no reason for this and hopefully things end well.

Truly sad to here something like this happening. Even if they weren't drunk, they are a couple of punks.

However, I'm curious about something. The brother said that these two men had been throwing things throughout the game. If so, where were the ushers? They are supposed to curtail such actions and if it doesn't stop, to have police security escort the culprits out of the park. I've seen them come down on kids throwing popcorn at each other. But, I guess it's easy to miss things with a big crowd.

I'd imagine someone will be fired and I'd imagine there's a hefty lawsuit coming the Os way.

Wish the guy a speedy recovery.

I've noticed the ushers at the Yard never seem to run out of reasons to pester the fans. So I would naturally assume my dumb butt would be dealt with very quickly if I decided to actually throw something. Either they weren't really throwing stuff the entire game, or they were and somebody screwed up really bad by letting it continue for innings. If they really were throwing stuff over a long period of time, it's almost impossible to believe an usher didn't notice.

My mother (a nurse by trade who works at UMD medical center) was sitting near the section where this happened. She called me on her way home and was absolutely beside herself with how the stadium staff responded. She said it was 15+ minutes before EMS to arrived at the scene, during which time she was just trying to make sure he was still breathing.

I'm pretty sure Oriole Park and/or Maryland Stadium Authority received a rather scathing letter this week.

Some people act like fools. It's a baseball game. I was at the game and never saw it.

A 25-year-old Hagerstown man suffered skull fractures and is in intensive care at Maryland Shock Trauma after being assaulted at Wednesday's Orioles game, police said.

Two men have been charged in connection with the attack ? Gregory Fleischman, 22, of Jarrettsville, and Michael Bell, 21, of Annapolis. Police said Bell threw a beer at Matthew Fortese, 25, and when Fortese approached them, he was punched and fell over a concrete barrier.

Fortese's brother, Jimmy, said Fortese lost consciousness and stopped breathing. An off-duty Maryland state trooper in the crowd performed CPR and revived him.

"It's very serious," Jimmy Fortese said of his brother's condition. "They're not saying he's out of the woods yet. They tell us we have to wait and see."

Matthew Fortese was on a date with another couple, and was wearing a Yankees hat, his brother said. The two men had been throwing things throughout the game, and Matthew and his date were eventually hit with a full beer.

This is why I roll my eyes at people that talk so much hate about the Red Sox and Yankees. Sure, I dislike them too because i want to win, but it is a game people. This is disgusting.

IT IS A GAME!!! FOR FUN!!!

Man, this makes me angry.

And this is the reason I never leave the house without my gun. Ever. I value the safety of my family and friends over the safety of some douche with beer balls.

But arent you in law enforcement, IIRC? My friend is a detective and the policy for the department is they "recommend" that they carry their weapon at all times(except when consuming any amount of alcohol, which sounds like both parties may have been in this situation).

Yes this is true. I don't really drink so I don't have issues there, I do know cops who carry at bars while they are drinking, I won't personally.

I feel fine with someone in your position carry a firearm. I would not be happy to know that the victim or the guy who hit him was carrying one. You are trained for something like this. Some mad 21 to 25 year old probably would not be able to make a sound decision in this situation.
