I know it's probably making a mountain out of a molehill, but I don't understand why we couldn't work out a way to deal Ishikawa to ANY of the other 28 teams in MLB if we were that concerned about blocking his path to New York.

Even if it was for cash considerations or a PTBNL.

As evidenced by him making it to the Yankees on waivers, no other team had interest in putting him on a major league roster.
